SONY IER-Z1R

You have to go through the IEM journey or you really don't know what is your best.
I guess I was lucky that Z1R was my first deep dive into IEMs. It was love at first listen when I demo'ed it, and the crazy deal SonyAU had going during a one-off sale at the time, I couldn't resist.

Nearly 12 months later, I can't think of how I could 'upgrade' from it. Only thing I'm thinking might be EVO or EXT? Not sure if our how I could demo the latter, and when I did get a chance to hear the former it was amazing, but I couldn't see spending nearly $2k more than I had on the Z1R for it.

For now at least, that 2k would be much better spent on the 64Audio custom I'm after, which will complement the Z1R nicely in my collection.

EVO doesn't top Z1R for me in anything but bass (and you have to love huge bass to love EVO). Haven't heard EXT, but at almost $2000 more than a mint used Z1R, it would have to be insanely better than Z1R to top it, especially from a tuning perspective, and I personally don't believe it is. Still look forward to hearing it though.

The Miter case is perfect!

One tip, the headphone bags by Campfire Audio are a great fit for the Z1R to stop the metal banging against eachother in your dap storage boxes.
This one?

I use those for all my IEMs.

Anyone use Spinfit 360 with the Z1R? I figured I may as well try different tips to hear how they change in sound and fit. I get perfect fit with several tips already, but have never had much joy with the longer length Spinfits. 360 look interesting though. Would you suggest larger sizes for a shallow fit or smaller for a deeper insert?

I would say to go deep, that's what anchors them in best for me, and gets me the best SQ. I like Final E, size M. So much so I've got a couple unopened 3-pair-packs, "just in case"

Indeed, perfect fit, glad to see people are on it already. Small investment to prevent clinking :D
Ordered! Thank you guys for pointing me to these.

Anybody has experience or heard of the Japanese seller on ebay for used Z1R? I really don't want to spend that much even this will be my endgame iem since I primarily use my iem during my running (I spend around 2 hours each day though). Fitting is another concern, though I think I am okay with most of the IEM, I was running wearing Monarch (which is also big) with no problem.

The shell of the z1r might be an issue with the weight. Monarch is resin, where z1r is zirconium metal. Maybe foams will help, but running with the z1r wouldn't be ideal imo

I certainly wouldn’t run with them and would find their quality wasted for that use anyway
