SONY IER-Z1R

So I just caught up on 758 pages of Z1R backstory! Some very interesting insights picked up along the way. It's fascinating to read through the 'discovery' phases from when a new IEM is released to when it's been in the hands of experienced users for a while. There's nothing like walking the well-worn footpaths of those who came before to avoid the pitfalls and get to your destination faster. Thanks for all the contributions made to date, and look forward to sharing my own over the coming months (and hopefully years) with this lifetime IEM...
cant wait to hear your thoughts on it!

to me, they are the perfect IEM for rap/hip-hop. in some other genres they have a little less mids than id like, but i can eq them to sound pretty perfect.

In the month or so that I've had them, I haven't been inclined to AB them with any other IEM. I find that when you're not comparing two or three IEMs directly, especially ones with markedly different tuning, our brain does one heckuva job with some minor psychoacoustic EQ (aka human PEQ ) that really levels out any so-called 'imperfections' that would otherwise jump out at us. With such a well tuned, well rounded IEM like Z1R, our brains have very little to do, because what's coming through our ears is already that good. That's my take on it anyway. Helps that the only other IEM I rotate with Z1R is IE 900, which shares a similar aversion to super forward mids.cant wait to hear your thoughts on it!

Question to those who have owned both the Solaris and Sony IER Z1R. How much better is the treble on the Sony IER-Z1R than the Solaris? And is the Sony much more better technically? Also which IEM would you say has the most accurate representation for instruments? Thanks!

Mine is #124..........but I actually had a choice of a few. That was the one that they reserved for me. And since am superstitious but not Chinese superstitious, I took the one they gave me, that they put aside for me.
