It must be an android smartphone for LDAC at 990Kb/s to get nearly 96Khz 24bits .. Most recent Iphone can only be AAC (which is also very good even probably limited to 44.1Khz 16 bits).
It's worth doing it.

As far as I know iOS is limited to 256kb or 320kb aac but that is still fine

Yes it is limited.. but I think it's not really clear about the effective Apple bitrate.
It can be the AAC standard (lossless ?) or not.
Developer:Bell Labs, Fraunhofer Institute, Dolby Labs, Sony and Nokia
Max Bitrate:264 kbps
Bit Depth:16 bit
Frequency:44.1 kHz

I use the silicon , but if you want to try both you can just order the hybrid and take the foam out . Without foam they are the same
