haha you know, i received it two days ago and was planning on selling it immediately due to allllll the bad reviews. i had offers for $2500. but i still wanted to try this famous iem out for myself........ and i was blown away.

I've tried just about every TOTL iem out there (thanks to being based in Asia), and was not impressed by it at all. I've bought expensive IEMs in the past, but only when I felt the sound warranted it.
But hey, if it works for you that's great, this isn't really the place for that discussion though.
ok you sound like an experienced user. so which iems would you recommend overall since you've heard so many? would be nice to get a list from you

The IER-Z1R is more Clint Eastwood bass, the CA Atlas is more Arnold Schwarzenegger bass. I’ve heard em both and this is IMO. Atlas way more bass, not as Eastwood like, more robot from the future like?

In case you missed my (similar) story from a few pages back. I descended into FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Dread) before coming back out into the light, a happy man. (Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of crap and came out clean in the other side, was free.)Good news.

I opened the ugly shipping box and saw this.
One side of the still sealed Sony box has no protection from impact. Big Ouch!
I guess the Europeans does not use plastic bubbles anymore.
This dent on the outer packaging is the only noticeable external damage.
Will have to go shopping with the honey. Hope to be back tonight to unwrap.

Mine also has a dent on one of the corners, little bit smaller than yours. No issues here withe the z1r
