Good to hear and happy for you, but the info about headstand units is a bit odd. They should now what you "ordered" in the first place.
They didn't ask anyone else afaik and everyone got the correct unit he/she ordered, I think?

I'm KS backer #116. On Monday, Nov. 25th, I received an "A16 ready for shipment" notification from Mr. Smyth.

I'm #131, so I'm still hoping for Christmas. Thanks for the update!

Has everybody gotten their unit? Haven't received any news about mine.

No, most people have not gotten their units. About 1/3 of Kickstarter backers have gotten units and no pre-orders have.

Do you know if there are or were any studios in France offering PRIR generation for the Realiser (A8 and/or A16)?

I just read the following on HCFR : (from a franckthx, Pro-Fabricant) https://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum...view-hcfr-liens-en-post-1-t30075654-1215.html

Nous pouvons pour celui qui le souhaiterait mettre à disposition notre salle de démonstration Atmos pour une capture avec le Smyth.

Sadly my years long desire for this product (and faith that I will actually get the use out of it I anticipated originally despite life getting busier and busier) has me thinking about moving on. Shame at the 11th hour (hopefully) to consider giving up, but I could probably use the money for other projects now, and as my family has grown over the years waiting, I have less of a need for headphones w/ movie & tv playback. So anyway, I don't recall my backer number, think I was early pre-order instead of Kickstarter if I recall right. My records show I made the first deposit October 2016 so don't know exactly where that puts me in the line. Anyway it's been a while since I've checked in on this thread, hope those who have received are enjoying! Is there an active market for people bailing and selling their order? If so what could I expect to be offered if I decide to sell mine? PS: if anyone also wants a Yarra 3D soundbar to go with, mine is finally received but so far have not gotten to use it, it was really intended to extend the functionality of the Realizer anyway. So package deal might be possible too.

I just sent them an email asking them when they think mine might actually ship. If they either can't give me a date or it is to far in the future then I am going to bail. What ticks me off worse is that they will be rewarded several thousands of dollars for F'ing me over.

Just PM me, and I'll make you an offer. It wont be the full $4k, and Smyth will have to recognize and fully warrant the product, but I have the cash and will buy if you want to sell. Needless to say, I'll have to have an email from James Smyth confirming your status and agreeing to the arrangement. I'll send the money to him and he can refund your purchase. That if both Smyth LTD an you agree to the terms.

If they will allow it, I would love to buy either yours or mikemav's rights.

Smyth Research asked on Facebook for recommendations when they shared the first one of a customer. So I wrote one and they shared it. Interesting that they seem to be looking for brand building now on social media. They still do not comment themselves their, but it is a first step to become more open and interested to the outside word.

Here we have a positive but honest A16 review from a early Kickstarter backer.
Thank you XXXXX XXXXXXX.

I have waited for this product at least for 10 years. The A8 was always kind out of reach. But then Smyth did a Kickstarter campaign ending September 2016 for their new A16 and I knew this is my chance. After having being burned with the Ossic X Kickstarter campaign, I really hoped this would work out. I even traveled to visit them during a hifi show in Paris in October 2016 ( https://www.head-fi.org/threads/smyth-research-realiser-a16.807459/page-23#post-12920497 ) still believing they would deliver as promised May 2017 and upload the measured profile on the A16. Being in the bunch of the first 100 backers I am extremley lucky I have now after three years received my A16 as one of the first ones.
Unfortunately the promised measured profile from Paris was not on it. But I have to admit I was very surprised how well the preloaded rooms, at least for film content, recorded with a dummy head & torso at BBC and University of Surrey work. Especially if you create a so called manLoud. You kind of equalize the headphones to a total neutral response. Very nice and something which headphone amp developers could have done way before. But my preferred listening is 2 channels for music, so I needed my own so called PRIR, which is the personalised room impulse response measured with your own ears in a room with loudspeakers. Preferably you use the headtracker which comes with the A16 to nail the different look angles.
This weekend I prepared in my Pilates studio one room with bass traps, absorbers, diffusers, lots of plants and carpets with the help of a fellow headfier. The result with the Sennheiser HD800 is just wonderful. Even if I am not using the headtracker when listening I finally have a clear, transparent and natural 3D sound. The measurement for the Hifiman Ananda was not that successful, although done in the same measurement and even before the HD800. So the usual “the inEar microphones moved” does not apply. I guess we as A16 users need to work on understanding better the use of the delivered inEar-microphones and find other holding possibilities instead of the delivered yellow foamies.
There is much which is still not clear at the moment, like why does the A16 not accept HiRes via SPDIF coax. Why can‘t I connect an Android player via OTG and USB? And so on.
But the good thing is, it works and it is great. Welcome to audio heaven.

Kind of quiet here.
No one joining the A16 owner club?
Still a bit depressed about the 44.1 kHz / 16 bit SPDIF Coax problem. While using Qobuz with my FiiO M11 this is not a problem but when using Amazon Music HD they do not allow you to set it to 44.1 / 16 bit. So you can not listen to Amazon Music HD at all via SPDIF Coax.
