shoots...after owning many pair of Shures, I wonder when they are going to come out with new cans instead of having updates?

Any recommendations for velvet pads from Aliexpress?

Without compromising the quality of the headphones?

I saw some posts in the past about cotton pads underneath the pads. Has anyone else approved of this?

I think these headphones are very good compared to the current options and I'm thinking of keeping them as my definitive headphones.

I'm going to buy an AB DAC amp and try the Shure via XLR, which is banked. At the moment I use it directly on my PC without a DAC amp

Has anyone experimented with third-party pads on the SRH1840? I did, and the results honestly shocked me. With the right third-party pads, this headphone improved significantly. BTW, my stock pads where not new, but certainly not worn down either.

Here's what I wrote:

I cant speak for the 1840, but pads will make a serious difference. The 3rd party ones, and the 1540 ones if you want something softer. One of the best sounds you can get is if you remove the driver cover on the srh1440 and add 3rd party pads, and you are getting sound that is quite near the 1000+ area, and comparable to the hd800 for clarity.

Indeed. All significantly different pads will change the sound. It's a nice way to improve the sound on many headphones, but it can also go the other way.
