Olddude is absolutely correct, it is just pure speculation on my part.
So reports of a new 12 driver Shure flagship are probably not true?

No, no, Shure called me today and told me the 846-12 is coming out Weds at half the price for 3X the drivers. AND that the 846 original would INCREASE in price because, as we all know, when you buy food with less stuff it costs more so Shure just figured the 4-driver version should cost more. I can hardly wait.
<irony on> There will be a new flagship with 16 drivers, therefore it will be called "SE9167 ('9-16-7')". It will have three included filters to choose from and they will be named "(British) Leyland", "Angela" and "Roxy". <irony off>
Seriously? Or are ya' kidding? 'Cause there is no indication anything will happen on Weds except that it will follow Tues and come before Thurs.
Power of the internet!
One poster mentions its two years since 846 came out, and further posts suggest price cuts, price increases, an event, and a new model . Unless I've missed something its all joking and wishful thinking!
I listened to the Sennheiser Momentum IEM throughout the night prior to the SF mini meet today (along with a bunch of other awesome sounding IEMs) and I agree when you say you prefer it over the SE846 for some recordings, as it was one of my favorite that I listened to during the night.
I bought the sennheiser momentum they r great but not as good as the shure as a whole they are very different
But for the price however they are amazing
I think my next iem is heir 8 or the velvet or the asg2
As much as I love the bass on shure but it's forward mid and sometimes harshness makes me want to look elsewhere
