I'm glad people thought that you were wearing hearing aids...makes them less susceptible to theft (unless people are THAT cruel :/)

So I was at the gym today and someone comes up and asks me why my hearing aids had wires....

And FINALLY...... Apparently to edit your Signature you need to use HTML coding for line breaks and paragraphs..

I've been a long time user of the SE420, but after reading about all your impressions in this thread I finally went and tried the SE425 and SE535 myself at my nearest Yodobashi Camera.  The SE425 is kind of identical to the SE420 and I was pretty meh about it ( I guess that's why there's no SE425 review/impression thread).  But, I was blown away the SE535 and I couldn't get the sound out of my head and bought a pair.  These little things are the greatest earphones I have ever owned.

Here's to hoping the cables don't crack and die like the SE425 and the clear casing doesn't turn a nasty yellow later on.

Do these things need burn-in time? If so, how long?

Zero with these IEMs.

FYI...this is the SE535 thread. You might want to start an SE425 thread. But these cables are so durable that you could use them to lock up your pick in a pinch.

And if you end up driving over them...the cables are user removable!

Don't you mean like the SE420? Haven't heard of any 425s cracking...

Sorry I meant the SE420.

can anyone compare se315 to se535?

I imagine it'll be hard to find a person with both to do an A/B comparison between the two. Since if you have the money and are willing to buy the SE535s, why would you buy the lower tier Shures? I might be wrong, but I'm just going off of what I think. Your best bet is to read both impression threads and compare the two that way.

^ well yea, with this hobby the value thing for most people stops around the 300 dollar mark, granted value cNt really be measured and varies from person to person. I think the SE535s offer great value for the money.

But yea to the other poster, you shouldn't have any probla with the cable; it's very sturdy and should last for years.

True about the diminished returns with hifi audio, but I did own both the SE310s and SE530s/SE535s at the same time and there was a big difference in SQ between the SE530/535s and the SE310s. The SE310s sounded really nice, but after I popped in one of the other two, I just couldn't listen to the SE310s.

I have the SCL4s, which I believe use the same drivers as the SE300s, and the 535s are exponentially better in every area.  You'll still get a taste of those Shure mids with the 300 series, but the similarities stop there.  Value is a relative thing, and to me, the 535s are worth the extra cost.

If I couldn't stand the 530's (I think I'm an ety/re0 kinda guy), would I be right in guessing there is little hope I'll enjoy the 535? {I apologize if the answer to that is elsewhere in the thread, I just can't easily read 96 pages}

Yea it's somewhat like a one way street in terms of sound quality and the next purchase. Whether you're getting new cans that are better, something that has a different sound signature, or switching from full sized to IEM to on ear, for many the sound quality has to be the same, if not better.
