I think the clears look like a hearing aid thingy or similar. They're not ugly but they doesn't look that nice either.

The most worrying thing about them could be that if the cable goes broke in the future it can be hard to find a replacement cable in the clear version. Most stockists with Shure replacement parts could just have the normal black cable version instead. I'm just guessing.

Yea that's a good point about the replacement cable.  I saw someone with the clear SE215s last night and the clear cables don't look that great in person.  I'll probably end up getting the bronze 535s

cifani090, i might.
I don't know! i upgraded from my SE530, and they feel uncomfortable.
I don't get why Shure decided to make the SE535 edgier. Hurts.
Then there is the sound. I remember having the exact issue with the
SE530. At first listen, I fell in love with the clarity. Then when I started
listening to Celine Dion or Sarah Brightman. Agad. Sibilance.
hurts my ears x2.
I contacted Elec-expo about refunds. Looks like i'll take a hit of about
80 bucks. I don't want to return them just yet. But there is a deadline.
I really want to love them. I've tried the Sennheiser IE8 and the TripleFi10 Pro.
Heck, tried? Own. And they're not the king of the hill in my opinion.

Does anyone else feel that way? that they're uncomfortable and the the sound is a
much to sibilant? The thing is, my old SE530s sounded like that at first. But i ended
up absolutely loving them. So what's am I doing wrong???

clarified with elec-expo
they no longer charge for the restocking.
So I guess I'll return them when I make up
my mind. I'm so torn. T.T

It's greed I tell you. I had something great and wanted
something better, and in the end lost them both.

Why the heck do I feel like a character out of Aesop's fables?
I hope this will be a lesson to you all. But then, we're headfiers.
We will dauntlessly head into the night in the world of recklessly
expensive headgear without a moments hesitation.
Long live shure. I shall return.
(as soon as they give me my Quad-driver rival to the Weston 4) :D

Kwangsun,

NO!  Don't do it. LOL  Give them more time.

To me, the 535's are excellent right out of the box; comfortable, easy to insert, non-fatiguing, sound isolating, and free of sibilance; smooth, full, sweet.  I like them MUCH better than my Ety ER4P, SE425, and Monster Turbine's; they're all very good.  I suppose you've tried all sorts of tips, sources, file types, and musical genres?  The quest for the best X variations in one man's ears compared to the next results in disparate opinions.

Well,
What I have tried are the original medium sized olives because they worked best last time.
I didn't bother with any of the others. I mean, they are still Shure SE5XX...
And sources...well, i've tried my Creative Zen. All encodings are in AAC VBR 400+kbps (highest quality)
Then my Cowon X7 with full lossless FLAC library. PC with Creative X-Fi 5.1 surround. and last ditch attempt
with iPod nano 6th Gen. All tracks encoded in AAC VBR highest. Same as the Zen.
No good. My favorite artists are Sarah Brightman and Dido. And the Shures do not play well with their vocals.
And YES I want to give them another chance. But if there is a Shure Quad-driver on the horizon...
It may be a fool's hope, but I want them already. Westone 4 would have been top pick if not for my
experience with Shure and my love for my SE530. I love their sound signature. I just can't describe it.
The warmth, sound stage... the detail and the TEXTURE! it was the closes thing to live. Front row center baby.

I guess I should try other tips. I think it's partly my fault. I'm hopeless when it comes to EQ and the cowon doesn't
playback very well on FLAT eq. They do need tweaking. But then I can't get the sound right and I can't remember the last
time it was this difficult to get the right sound out of a pair of earphones.

Oh, and the discomfort is due to the design and not fit of the earphones.
the fit is still superb.
I just miss the old design. The old design was all curves and were exceedingly comfy.
The new ones are edgy and press against the bowls of my ears.

Just place a WTB ad in the FS Forums. This isn't the right place.

...and did you say "Celine Dion"? No wonder you hear sibilance

It's official. I've had them packaged and ready to go.
Sigh. And I was so "shure" I'd love them. T.T
I am fan of Shure. So I will be back.
I think there is no way Shure wouldn't make a
Quad-driver Universal-fit IEM now that Westone has the W4.
I think it's only a matter of time. If i get them, I'll be sure (thought I'd say Shure again didn't you?)
to let you guys know what they're like. Unless they come in the same edgy design. I might have to
reconsider then.

I have tried the yellow universal tips. Those actually really did the trick. I could live with the hint of
sibilance (which most people don't seem to notice but I for some reason do.)
but they still hurt. So away they go. I send them out without any ill feelings for Shure.
But I hope they'll make them somewhat more like the SE530 next time.
They may not look as cool, but they're graceful looking and functionally so.

For the rest of you guys. Keep on rocking!

PS: immtbiker, Celine Dion is fine. She is a very successful artist and I think she deserves her place.
I don't have any particular bias toward artists or genre. And I don't think audiophiles or music lovers should.
But if you did, I'd respect that.
I have Iron maiden, 3 Door Down, Alter Bridge and a few rap music. And yes, they sound perfectly fine.
And sublime on Michael Jackson. (He has excellent recordings)
But if I can't enjoy my favorite artists like Sarah Brightman, Dido, Celine Dion, Josh Groban or Imogen Heap,
then what point is there? and It's not just the artists, but the genre that the earphones won't be suited for
(at least in my ears)
So I wish there were other ways, but the sound isn't the real problem. Dealing with sibilance isn't so hard.
You could just try using a more sound absorbing tip, like the TX-100 from comply, which I have, or the
the yellow universal fit ones included, which I also have. And they do wonders and have nearly eliminated the
problem. But my problem wasn't just the sound. It was the fit. That's the biggest issue.
They're just too edgy, and I think my ears aren't big enough to allow more room for them to move around.
The old SE530 may have been bigger, but they were rounded and smooth. So they didn't hurt when they
pressed against my ears.

Plus, I'm rooting for a quad driver from shure. Maybe I'm just being optimistic. But what reason wouldn't they
have for making one?

lol. okay, i admit. fan boy moment there.
But i do think they're better than all the IEMs I own.
But yes, such a claim is rather bold since there are
many earphones I have yet to try.
W4 and SM3 comes to mind.
