Not to mention that sometimes a cheap tube amplifier can really surprise you with the right tubes. For instance, the Feliks echo and wa396a it's Superb. Sure, there are more expensive amps with better technicalities and versatilities, but ultimately the sound is coming out of the tubes and headphones.
Same with the cayin ha-3a, I paired it with mulllard 12au7 10m, and Mazda 6v6/ Mullard 6v6g st. And the sound coming out of these are georgous.
I also enjoyed a lot the climb up. And it's very important, because you also learn to train your ears. In the other hand, a jump in $$ will avoid waste in the middle. But I doubt you can really appreciate the difference.
In any case, if you enjoy the music, that is it.
Peace and love. 🎧☺️

My home system is officially upgraded.

Was using:
Topping DX7Pro>Audio-GD NFB-28>Headphones

Now:
Bifrost 2/64>Violectric V281 Reissue>Headphones

I also bought two new headphones:
HifiMan HE1000 Stealth
ZMF Atrium Open

Still waiting on the Atrium, but these HifiMan are a HUGE step up from my LCD-3s!
The transparency I'm getting from this system is blowing me away. And yet, no lack of warmth and musicality!

Nice, my first goal was to get the Hifimans HE1000V2 stealth.
They do sound very nice.
In the end, while going through this forum, I found the ZMF headphones very intriguing, so ordered the Auteur Classic LTD 2024. Maybe I wil compared them one day with the Hifimans.
Enjoy :beerchug:

New in the Hause is the XDuuo TA 20. Works fine with all 3 headphones in the pictures, but best combination until now seems to be the one with Grado Gs 3000e. See how far I can get with tuberolling. Hope, he will stay with me!

I only got to hear the Auteurs briefly at a show, back when they first released. It was on a seriously nice tube amp, and it was one of the best sounding headphones I'd ever heard.

That's why I ordered the Atrium, because Zack says they are meant as the ultimate expression of what Auteur began. I just hope they don't deviate too greatly from that sound I so loved all those years ago. :o2smile:

O, so You are also waiting. Mine should arrive around half May. Would be nice.
I just saw the Stabilized version of the Auteur and other Stabilized versions. Looking good. Maybe one day. It is a open version, but is it something like Hifiman HE1000, I mean the soundstage? The HE is more open and the Auteur has just a small opening.

For anyone interested. The album I had on display in my post was this one. Apollo 13 score by James Horner. https://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/36730/APOLLO-13-2CD/ I had been hoping for this to come out for a very long time. I have both of the standard single disc versions of this score but they both have movie dialog mixed with the music which I don't like. This is just the score on its own and it's one of my favourites.

I did some minor rearranging. Jotunheim A makes a lot more sense next to the stack.

Also invested in some nicer power cables. All Chinese, so nothing crazy, but VERY good for the money.

(ahem... excuse the dust)

I won't comment much on if the cables did anything, so as to not stir up the hornet's nest, but as a total cable skeptic I'll just say that the results were.... interesting. :flushed:

Thanks to a group of cool audio friends, I got Mjolnir in house for a week.
It slams and slams hard and Freya+ in tube mode just put it on steroids. Addictive
