If a bass-head could only choose between the IE600 and IE900, which would be the better choice?

If I don't do an A/B comparison, I would say.. both should be able to please Bass Head people (Electronic/Drum&Bass/Trip-Hop/R&B)..
When I do A/B comparison, the IE900 seems to offer some more extension in the ultra low frequencies (15 to 50hz) without being more muddy.. but, is it worth to spend from 600€ to 1500€ ... it's another story.

For a few months, I was using and thinking the IE600 was nearly "THE" perfect single DD IEM ... these last weeks, I found, I prefer to use more frequently the IE900 over the IE600, though I do some PEQ with the IE900 to add some bump in the high mids frequencies (maybe to get a nearer harman curve target frequency response) the IE600 don't need any PEQ...

Sorry not to be more helpful .. :beerchug:

I think of the 900 like the Porsche 911 and the 600 like the Cayman. Many would use the Cayman as the everyday all arounder but still want the 911 for track day 😉

How is the IE900 for reliability? The IE300 has issues but I suppose a lot more people can afford them, so more faults will be found.

Have had mine for a year and they look like day one, apart from barely noticeable micro scratches on the flat face plate (which they're no avoiding). They feel solidly built. I remember some people had driver failures. It happens. I had a driver failure on a set of momentum true wireless and had driver flex on my set of IE 800 S. If it happens, Senn will replacement it if under warranty.

The only thing I ever worry about is any debris getting in the port hole on the chassis. I'm careful with my set (i.e. don't take them to the beach). Wonder if anyone's had any problems with that.

I just wanted to add this bit. I owned the Ie 900 for two months now but if you have the ie300 or the ie600 this should apply. The port hole need to be clean as the tuning depends on it. My ie900 was sounded a bit off for a week. More so less air or less hight can’t pinpoint it but I notice my port hole had some debrie in them. I had one of those cleaner with a brush on the other end from one of my previous iem and used the brush end to clean it and they sound okay again. I think every few week or so you should clean them if you can because it’s harder to keep dust out of that then the sound tube sense there so small. sometimes you might not notice anything in them at first glance

Thanks for the reminder!! Mine were long overdue. After a cleaning with my JodiVac, they sound so much better!! I didn't really notice it because it slowly builds up over time.

Just arrived: Forza Claire Hybrid IEM cable terminating in Furutech 4.4mm Not listed on Forza's site, but no doubt you can drop 'em a line. First impressions: beautiful. Ergonomically spot on. Cable is thick, but very malleable, and fits around the ear with ease (big improvement on my previous Brise cable in this respect which required the slider to sit under the chin). Initial sound impression: everything you love about the IE900 but more refined, more transparent, and smoother. Had been on the fence about ordering a couple of cables to compare, but perfectly happy with this one. Recommended.

The more I think about it the more I feel like the difference between ie600 and ie900 is like U12T and U18T. Each has its own fanbase, one is more analytical the other is more fun and coloured. That being said I think 900 would suit you more

So which would you consider more fun from either brand?
We tuned the 600 to be a bit fuller and engaging while still maintaining balance. The 900 is more clinical and tuned for those looking to get closer to the recording and all it's captured warts. If I'm going for bass "meat" I'm choosing the IE 600. If I'm going for accuracy either is a good choice but for my ears the IE 900 would finally prevail as it has that extra performance gear with transients and speed. I'm taking both to Germany in a few days so my in-flight neighbor can pick one to borrow for the flight 😎

Interesting. So far I understood the IE900 has more bass rumble/slam/everything than the IE600...

How about the classical performance of IE600? I recently got QA390E carribale DAC(if you agree). The IE600 performs better with control on the music than my 2000T.Yet people in China tends to say IE900 tends to design for classical and need change cable to satisfiy vocals. Brise has cable designed for IE900 for example.

I also own HD600 and wants to upgrade to 800S so. So for 800s and IE900, are these two similar in style?
