Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk

That comparison to the AirPods Max is very interesting. Also very promising too since, with a few exceptions, it seems to be a well regarded headphone for what it is. So long as the IE900 can do the technical stuff I see it being a very popular sound; albeit a bit more general-consumer focused (which isn't always a bad thing).

I gotcha. I have the 64 Nio right now (my only IEM) and based on the current IE 900 reviews, it seems like they could be a similar sound signature (which I love). Fingers crossed!
I'm really interested in die 64 Nio, because of the sound signature, but unfortunately it was too expensive for me. I think the IE 900 could be a cheaper Version of the 64 Nio. Especially in Europe.

It seems that the Bass and Mids are very similar:

Hmmm I really don't think they would sound anything alike... those differences in the treble would completely change the sound. The IE900 would likely sound a lot more v-shaped whereas the Nio is more L-shaped.

That helps me a lot. I have very little knowledge about reading these graphs.
Graphs don't tell you a huge amount tbh but they can give you an indication of what to expect, especially if you have specific ranges that you are sensitive to. I imagine the IE900 will be tuned with a more airy and forward signature in mind given the FR and also the technology used. The Nio has a more lush signature but can still maintain some of the detail that a single DD IEM couldn't if tuned in the same way because of the driver configuration.

Something the graph won't tell you is the multitasking capability of the bass. It has effortless control and the ability to reproduce really complex, busy passages...something you'll have to experience and something we hope you get to put through its paces. Bring a track with the most hectic frenetic brain splittingly busy low frequency action to see how it keeps up... It's a blast! Cheers!

When will we finally get an equal to this IEM in an open back headphone? With all the well-known features of Sennheiser soundstage?

Because if this leads to a HD900 version sign me up now!

Sennheiser feels no shame when it comes to the HD 800S. Keep an eye out for the next time Sennheiser Consumer announces a livestream Q&A/Ask Me Anything session, because last time we had chief product manager and intelligent fellow Jermo Koehnke mentioned the unique design of the ring radiator drivers and some of the advanced features unique to the HD 800S. It’s great that there are other flavors of tuning and artistry on the market, but currently Sennheiser remains true to the HD 800S and upcoming HD 8xx as the most advanced expression of the target they were aiming for.
Love my HD 800S. I'm not looking for better. I am looking to purchase some spare parts from Sennheiser, like "Article No. 534406 headband padding"(https://spares.sennheiser.com/en-us/catalog/sparepart/534406). It's been out of stock for months.

When?

Some of the things I’m hearing about on this really catch my attention. Coherence, isolation, form factor, tuning and innovative acoustics systems with a great design/build.

Mention audiophile Bass like this with killer acoustics and a tuning like the Airpods Max? I’m very intrigued

Bummer about the steep rolloff in the highs. That kills my interest.

I'd ignore the graphs. Use the frequency response detectors on the side of your head when you get to demo one. This is in noooo way a dark iem.

The IE900 achieves a wonderful balance for me - excellent bass with non-fatiguing treble and stunning, natural sounding detail and soundstage. It at times feels like a more exciting IER-M9, adding extra energy but remaining analytical and intimate. It's an unbelievably addictive IEM and at this point I feel probably the best all-rounder I've heard.

I'm a little skeptical about single DD being able to match the layering and separation M9 is capable of, but i'm curious enough to try and decide for myself.

I still need to a/b them, I've not listened to the IER-M9 at all this week but intend to over the weekend. I expect the IER-M9 will indeed remain superior in that regard and keep its place in my collection for very focused listening, which is what I love about them.
