Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk

Has anyone made use of Sennheiser's generous return policy with these yet that reside in the UK?
We need these return policy or at least demo tour in Southeast Asia as well! With lockdown still in effect in multiple countries, it's impossible to go spend $1,299 or so without even hearing the IE900. Please keep us in mind, Sennheiser! Would be interested in an audition when these launch in the region and looking forward to your PM :)

how are the delivery times looking now? I’m in Canada and ordered (and paid for) mine a week ago and haven’t heard anything. I suppose I could order through the Sennheiser website but they don’t give ETAs either.

Couple more recommendations:

I really liked the landscape video for that last track… added to the playlist!
I’m still really enjoying the IE900, live music in particular sounds great on them, I’m just listening to Foy Vance live at Bangor Abbey and it sounds fantastic. This song sounds great on the IE900…..

I’m also back to using the medium silicone, I find the sound is more open and balanced overall with the silicone. It’s a shame so many seem to struggle with the fit using these, including myself sometimes in my left ear.
Added!
Sometimes people wear different size tips in each ear… have you tried that?

Oh wow I really like the last song, made me the perfect song while I was preparing my backpack and boots for my super hiking DAY! yep I do hiking 😛 this was the song that made me feel like a viking and I was preparing for the big fight! 😅🙃 In my case for the big hiking day hehe
Super hiking, or prowling? 😸

It’s hard to say, I can’t tell where you ordered from. Of course, it matters when you ordered – the pre-orders are being filled first filled first, and should be arriving soon if they weren’t delivered already. If you were importing, It could also just be slower shipping into Canada, going through customs.

Both good news and something to keep in mind: the IE 900 have been received very well, and there were thousands of preorders! As flagships, they are being produced with great precision and care. We may reach a point soon where continuing demand may outpace production, but in the long run we’ll be enjoying IE 900’s far longer than the wait!

As per Sennheiser:
“The IE 900 are manufactured to the highest production standards in the audio industry by a specialist team at our headquarters in Wedemark, Germany. Production also includes a demanding milling process that takes 40 minutes for each pair of earphones, which limits the daily production output and may lead to a waiting period. We will fulfill your order as quickly as possible and hope you will adore your IE 900 for many years to come. Thank you for your patience.”

Even though the chances of me ordering this are slim currently as I have a custom that I adore, I feel like they also listened to feedback. Instead of the downwards cable design of the ie800, they tried to go for the cable over the ear design while keeping the shell small to remain as comfortable as others! Kudo’s for trying to improve on something without nullifying of decreasing an other quality. I can’t judge how well they have done as I don’t own a pair though :)

I was a bit concerned after I'd ordered reading about cable microphonics and the reinforced ear hooks but I've only experienced slight microphonics once when no music was playing and I was purposefully trying to make it happen. When music is playing it's fine, very comfortable and just a little thicker than the Xelento cable. These fit me very well and I don't need to adjust them once in. The only thing I've found is that I need to make sure the tips are pulled away from the housing otherwise it interferes with the bass especially.

For what it's worth, crin ranked them in his extensive list. B for tonality, A+ for technicalities. So overall a B+.

Hmm...that means it might be A or S tier for me...maybe I'll jump back on this wagon lol

The fit worries me though...they look like they fit like the IER M9, which was a crap fit for me.

I agree… it’s not like it’s a cloth-covered cable or a grippy rubber, it’s a smooth jacket. So yes, while the para-aramid weave inside traded durability for a bit more ability to transmit friction, the outer surface is a smooth plastic of relatively low friction. Another plus which may not be visible to the naked eye (not yet at least) is that it doesn’t have plastic softener additive chemicals that off-gas… meaning that with sun exposure, flexing, and time, the cable won’t get stiffer.

For me the cable is fine as well. Yes there is some microphonics but only a little bit. It is nothing compared to the K3003 cable.
The only thing I am wondering about is the huge Y splitter. Is this because of durability?

WOOOOOOOOOW INTENSE, talk about a bass track! Should I add this to the playlists? Honestly… it’s so intense that I can’t listen all the way through, but the beginning is really cool.

I found a service which should find individual songs for most platforms (but since it’s one song at a time, it’s not great for playlists): https://song.link/t/145055078
