Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I like simplicity and find that HD600's sound great with a good SS amp. No muss no fuss.

I don't necessarily disagree. I do find that a good tube amp with well-chosen bottles - lots of "depends" here - adds more space and depth to the sound. YMMV

Edit: Yea, rolling tubes can be a lot of fun.

Like I said no muss no fuss and IMO SS sounds great. Why do I not feel the need to roll tubes, I'm too busy enjoying the music. If you're into rolling, go for it and have fun.

I think the HD 600 sounds great on SS amps myself, sadly I don't have any decent SS amps. I'm having trouble finding the ideal tubes for the HD 600, I've had good luck with the HD 650 though.

Sounds great with something as simple as a Schiit Asgard 2.

That's an amp I was eventually thinking of getting eventually. I love the HD 650 and K712 with the Lyr 2, but my other headphones, not so much which likely causes me to be harder on the headphones than I probably should be. After recently auditioning the HD 600 on other amps, I realized my slightly mixed feelings about the HD 600 are synergy related.

I have the Keces HA-171, Beresford Capella and a JDS Labs O2 (all SS) but love having that "tube sound" option. Tube amps now a days are pretty much no fuss BTW. I had an old Sansui 1000 back in the day with 23 tubes! Seemed like that was always needing an adjustment or tube but the LD has been trouble free since new. As much as I enjoy the Keces amp the LD does something to the music I love, it's like smoke drifting into the room... so smooth and pleasing to the ear. The HD600 seems to like tubes too! The Voskhods give them a slap on the gluteus and they come alive IMHO.

I'm kinda thinking of a LD mk9.

It all sounds quite good to me. I run mine off of a Topping TP30/D20 combo and I'm also too busy enjoying the music. Broke now too, but enjoying the music

Anyone have compared this HD600 with HD598 ?
Who is the most unforgiving sound product ? Who is the most analytic ? And about this ..... the difference is noticeable ?

I had the HD598's and didn't like them. Somewhat grainy sounding at times with the Sennheiser "veil" I had read about. The HD600 is a different headphone all together... refined, balanced, very pleasing to the ear and absolutely no veil with my LD or Keces amps. The HD598 did look very nice though and were comfortable from what I remember.

So which is better when directly used with laptop for classical orchestra?
Meier Corda Jazz or LDMK3?

Thanks!

I don't listen from a computer and never heard the Meier maybe someone else could answer that for you.
