Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Oh - totally agree with this.  HD600s are THE great all-rounder.  I think that's why so many people still gravitate back to them - even after trying TOTL.

My Mum has my K701's now - she's driving them straight from a DAP, but she's in her 70's and I don't think she's worried about the bass

.  She solely listens to classical anyway.  I have to admit that whenever I get a chance to get home, I usually throw some gear in a bag and often "borrow" the K701's for a few hours to remind myself how good they can be. Should get a pair again at some stage - even if it's just for the odd day that I feel like it.  There is nothing quite like the AKG mid-range (if you enjoy it).

Saying that though - between the HD600 and T1 I don't really need another full sized can .......

The HD600s really are great for every purpose. I watch movies, enjoy music, watch shows, play games and not once have I ever felt the HD600s were ever lacking in any area. You brought up the AKG mids and I'm agreed on that too. It really is quite a thing. I popped those on a Little Dot MkIII from my bro and compared those with his HD650s over the weekend. In comparison, those mids were beautiful I think. As for running between your HD600s and T1........well, if you've got enough disposable income, perhaps you can't have too many cans heheh.......

Compared to Fidelio X2 who give the most unforgiving and less analitycs sound between two ?
Im looking for an headphone can sound good with gaming, and not excessive unforgiving.

As @onebigunion noted, you might not need something quite so high up the ladder. @onebigunion suggested a set of Senn HD558s and honestly I think those are a fantastic choice. I used to use the HD558s every day (still run them on the weekends). They're great for gaming and actually pretty damned good for overall use too. But considering how I've seen the HD600s have been going on sale for under $250 several times recently, I'd be tempted to grab those. Like @Brooko and I say, they're amazing for just about everything.

I brought the X2 and initially loved it (new toy syndrome !) but it soon became apparent that it couldn't touch the Senns for accuracy / natural sound . The bass was louder on x2 and that's it. Quality of the bass wasn't even close to HD600. I sent the X2 back to Amazon and got a full refund.

So the bass reproduction of HD600 is much better ? More controlled ?

IMO yes . I felt that the X2 had a bit of bass bloat and it became too much . With some bass light recordings it sounded great and I was sold on it but overtime with a mix of recordings I realised it just wasn't as natural sounding or as tight . The X2 is good for bright recordings but that's about it vs the HD600.

Ok but HD600 is analytic product ?

Definitely not IMHO.  I still rate the HD600 as being the most natural sounding headphone I've heard.  Notice I say natural rather than neutral. Nothing else I've heard comes as close with such a realistic tone and timbre.

It's not the most resolving headphone out there, doesn't have the tightest bass, or the largest sound stage.  What it does bring is realism.  And that's what makes it so endearing.

Yea that's right my HD600 with Little Dot MK3 sounds sublime but information about Voskhod,GE or Mullard tubes on the rolling thread are outdated(try to read last pages),there are better tubes for LD MK3/MK4-i use 6N6P-IR+EI-6HM5 yugoslavian tall bottle

Could you give us a link on where you purchase them?

Ok and regarding the bass extension reproduction ? There are noticeable difference between two ?

The both extend the same but it's all relative to the FR. Because the X2 has elevated bass relative to the mid range and treble it gives the impression of better extension. To put it another way the sub bass is just louder on the x2 but it's still there right down to 20hz on Both HD600 and x2 .

Thanks for the tip. Just bought them. We'll see how they compare to my newer pair.

Let me know as I almost purchased a matched pair dated '87.

Do these require any changing of jumper position? Or can we just plug them in and enjoy?
Also your opinions vs the Voskhods sound signature?

Nothing ,just plug and play!
If you want to go further with external power supplies, adapters and voltage regulators there are better options for driver (C3g) and power(6AS7/6080)!

Does a 6AS7 only require an adapter, or is there more involved? Thanks.
I really dont know,i think for this combination only adapters but if you really want to try go on the rolling thread and ask the guyz there(they are v.kind)! For me was expensive and complicated!
