Check all connections. Clean your ears. Pray the drivers haven't contracted the wasting sickness.

Always fear the wasting sickness.

I recently bought a X2. I just realize that X2's earpad cup is more deeper than 600's. On 600, my ear has touched the form. I wonder if anyone can recommand a replaced pad more deeper than the stock ones. Thanks.

So I've had the HD600s forever and it has always been a favorite next to the Thunderpants but recently I decided to upgrade my setup to a Modi 2 Uber + Valhalla 2. Sound definitely has improved but unfortunately away from my tastes. Now the HD600s sound a tad too bright on some recordings and seems to lack a bit in the low end overall. So I'm wondering, would the HD650 fix those problems with my current setup? I'm also using Amperex Orange Globe tubes on the Valhalla 2 if that helps. Any feedback is appreciated!

With the right tubes you can bring a good amount of warmth out of the Val.

I thought the Amperex Orange Globes would do the trick, but it really didn't quite do it for me. Perhaps the Bugle Boys would work better.

Also look at vintage tubes.

Would the HD700s be a good jump over the 600s with my particular setup?

Speaking from 10+ years of experience with HD600 - yes. And I'm not saying it's their fault.

Nothing is technically wrong with HD600, except a slightly anemic bass. HD800 with its sibilance is technically flawed in comparison.

No. I think you didn't drive 600 very well. I don't think 600's bass is anemic, even compared to X2. I have both.

I think you can try another DAC or other tube amplifier. I don't ahve Valhalla but I read people say it's just like a SS amp. You need a real tube amplifier. I don't think 700 fits your set up.

I see. Bummer, I barely just got the Valhalla AND a set of tubes for it.

Weird; I think the Valhalla 2 and HD600 are a beautiful match.  Try another headphone if you want, but I can't relate to the "problems" you describe.
