I see. Was interested but if there is no sound difference then never mind I guess.

Soo... Just got mine. Everything sounds very good, just right.

I went the cheapo way and reused my HD 58X Jubilee shell (this is one reason why I love HD 6xx series). Very happy that I did. I've loved my HD 6XX and I preferred them to HD 58X Jubilee and HD 660 S but I'd say that this edges HD 650 slightly (the differences between those two are rather small though).
Nice. I actually did this too with a second HD600 (Yes, I love the 600 so much I own two of them, lol). I love the 58X black on grey color theme. I'm thinking about painting the HD 58X badge the same blue as the 600 badge to make it look like an original 1995 HD 580 Jubilee.

Ha, I also own two. I didn't mean to, but I was selling a pair of AudioQuest Nighthawks and someone proposed a mint condition HD-600 for trade and it was the old model. I figured it was my last chance to secure a spotless old-model 600 and made the trade.

This has probably been covered, but can you recommend an aftermarket balanced cable for the HD600? I just bought a Schiit Jot and would like to use the big balanced headphone port in the front. Thank you.

Forza AudioWorks in Poland does really nice cables, including for the HD-600, balanced or not. For the quality many agree that the price is unbeatable.

:beerchug: I own two also. One with Stefan Equinox cable and one with stock.

Another option is to re-terminate the stock HD600 or HD650 cable with a 4XLR plug. There are sellers who offer this service.

Spend a few bucks for a decent balanced cable. They're cheap enough that it doesn't make sense to reterminate the el-cheapo, crappy cables that come with the 600/650 unless you do it yourself out of boredom. The guy who asked the question lives in America. It's pointless to suggest he should buy a cable from Europe when there are tons of places to buy all kinds of cables in America.

Thank you for jumping in here. I was kinda surprised people were suggesting cables in Europe and cables which cost several times as much as the headphones (US $140, hardly used). I ended up purchasing these from Amazon for US $46, and I am quite pleased. I do think they make a nice difference. "NewFantasia 4-pin XLR Balanced Male HiFi Cable Compatible with Sennheiser HD650, HD600, HD580, HD660S, HD58X, HD565, HD545, HD535, Massdrop HD6XX Headphones Silver Plated Audio Upgrade Cable"

I use a regular single-ended cable from NewFantasia. Works great for me, I have no reason to think any of their other cables aren't up to par.

Bought a set of balanced with very low capacitance from the UK "Custom Cans", who are real good to deal with for about $120 inc shipping. Sounds better than the stock on my Rag (less hash, cleaner over 500 Hz)

OTOH using the stock cable with the BH Crack w/ speedball sounds well better than the Rag + the custom cable. And that $125 is a 1/4-1/5 of the way to a kit with a couple of improvements - like the vol pot and the tubes.

I have a bunch of old stereo stuff around that's getting sold off to pay for a pair of some near SOTA can and this amp. Ever hear of that wood cleaner - Liquid Gold? Well thats this amp paired with the 600. Good god, it's jaw dropping - I think only the Voce on the HFM Jr, Stax 007, and the Abyss Phi on the Rag 2 have exceeded it in my experience.
