Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Hey guys recently got an HD600 and have to say I absolutely love it with classical and some jazz! Imaging seems funky with other genres once more stuff is introduced but I’m fine with using just for the good stuff. I was using a Peachtree Audio dac it but it just took a poop. Had it paired to a school Asgard and also have a Darkvoice with some nice tubes. Hoping to upgrade to a Hugo2 come I come tax.
Anyways can someone suggest a portable dac/amp combo to hold me over till I can afford the Hugo2? I’d consider mojo but had one and I like it but afraid if might be too aggressive for the HD600. I wasn’t something just s little laid back and warm. Imaging and fine details are key for me. Been considering peachtree shift, burson portable, ifi Black (can’t remember exact model.). Anything in particular you guys think I should be looking at?
There is nothing aggressive about a Mojo. I sold mine before I finally got a HD600 so can't comment on the pairing. Didn't rate it that highly with the 250ohm Beyer DT150 and 990 at the time. Absolutely superb with lower impedance Focal Spirit Classic and the HD25.

Would like another one though one day and would be very interested myself in anyone's thoughts of Mojo and HD600 combination

PS I think my GeekOut works very nicely on the rare occasions I use it with the Sennheiser (It's PC only Unfortunately)

Dude, I got rid of mine because it was to aggressive. Didn’t do anything bad to the music it was just not as laid back as I prefer. To me, it was to aggressive. Even when compared to other chord products.

The iFi iDSD Black is very good with the 6x0s (and not only). Also in the direction of sound you describe!
I had the silver one but the black owned by a friend is much better!

I have Fiio X3 ii--black dragon mini coax--mojo--HD600, very neutral clear sound, very good sound stage.
But it is harsh on bright recording. I really hate that harsh sound.
Do I need to burn in?
Any other gears recommendation, headphone or amp?

I am considering HD800 in the future. Is it better in treble?

If a recording is bright - it’s the recording. If you think about it for a minute, I’d burn-in existed and made a bright recording less harsh, then it would also make your “normal” recordings dull.

My advice - look for a better master of the recordings which are overly bright, or use EQ

Dragonfly Red sounds very good with HD600. IMHO better than Mojo.

I'm not a huge fan of the HD800, prefer the HD600. No clue about the HD800S though, haven't had a listen with those.

Thanks! But dragonfly need a computer. Any other gear can make a smooth treble, or smoother than HD600?
We're talking about the Dragonfly that uses USB, right? I've plugged it into my iPod Touch 5g before. You can use it portably, but you'll need an adapter. For example, I was using it with a lightning to USB adapter.

Just FYI... @RickB reported over in an HD 650 impressions thread that Sennheiser responded to his email about whether the HD 650 would be discontinued and they said that the HD 650 will be discontinued but "the HD 600's will be safe and still available."

The HD 600 still lives! :)

Good news can't see them getting rid of the 600 (unless God forbid they release a HD610s ?!?!!)

Headphones including the. HD650 come and go but the classics remain; the HD600, the HD25 and the Koss PortaPro (EDIT plus DT150). I think they will outlive all the other headphones currently on sale despite being designed decades before most of them.

Forgot the MDR-7506, been around longer than the HD600 and hasn't gone through any revisions like the HD600 and HD650.
