Just bought a k240 monitor from Germany last night. Hopefully they will sound good when they come! ;p

Anyone has any experience with them?

Btw. Anyone knows the difference between k270 vs k280?

I really like them. Quite neutral which really helps bring out the details. Also not bright in any way. Be sure to inspect the foam beneath the pads for rot. In my two pairs the foam had rotted and clogged the driver. You'll need to get a replacement set of foam discs for them to sound right.

I believe the k280 is open and the k270 is closed other than that they are largely the same. Probably completely different sound signatures.

Yeah, even though I havent heard the k550, but K340 is the BEST sounding out of all my AKG so far

I might be wrong but I believe the K280 is semi-open back and the K270 is closed back.

Yes, the K270 is closed back with dual drivers, There are two versions: the Studio and Playback. The latter is supposedly better sounding.
I have the K270 Playback, one of my sons is now using them.

It's written on one of the batches. On mine is written: 75 ohm, K 270 Playback, Made in Austria.

Concerning the K270's, a quote from Fitz:
"AKG K270 Playback is a great choice if you already like the Sextett-style vintage AKG sound, just make sure you don't get the way more common K270 Studio (K270P has silver trim rings like the Sextett, the K270S is all black)".
