Do you get the hum when the unit is fully charged? When mine was low on battery, there was a very noticeable hum but it went away after I charged it.

At what volume do you guys listen? I sometime feel that i am playing it loud even at 2 to 2.5 with low gain using Shure SE530.

yeah 2-2.5 is usually fine. Sometimes I'll turn it to 4 while listening to Nightmare before Xmas Soundtrack. Using Grado Sr225i's. The GAIN switch just adds volume, right? it adds no bass effects or anything?

With iems somewhere around 2.5 and headphones 3.8. Both with low gain. I do not think it is "loud", but like always it is a rather subjective thing.
