REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
Apr 2, 2011 at 3:01 PM Post #226 of 2,116
Just got a confirmation that mine have been shipped too. So hopefully by the end of the week I can give some first impressions on these. I really like the M50, but I'm hoping that these can dust the M50 in a big time way. We'll see (hear).

I placed my order on the 24th and I also just received notification that they shipped today, hoping to replace my AD700's with them although I don't doubt that the FA011's are easily superior. hopefully.

Hi LFF,

Planning to get the FA-011. Just wondering if the 011 seems to sound better than 003/002w, is there still a need to buy the 003/002w?

Heard that the FA-002w will be shipping from FA with the FA-002 housing and cups instead of FA-003. Will that make the FA-002w sound any different? As far as i can tell, both the housing of

FA-002 and FA-003 are the same right, only the outer cups are different? SO essentially, FA-002w using 002 or 003 housing/body is the same stuff right?

I dunno about the 002, but the 003 reviews and this review of the 011 make them out to be completely different headphones you can't compare. One is meant to be neutral, the other a fun headphone, not comparable in a "better" objective sense.

This has been asked but can anybody comment on the performance of these when used with uDAC or E7 type cheap DAC/AMP combos? The price on these is so good that some, including myself, would want to replace their existing AD700s/HD555s/HD595s/M50s with these in their cheap setups.

I didn't notice when I first posted on this thread ...  the headphones have only been shipped recently so we will be seeing updates soon from people who ordered them in a few days.  Next week I am sure we will have more of the questions we had answered.

Great review! I do have a couple of questions for you though...I don't have the time to scan all 16 pages of this thread, so I hope the questions aren't very redundant. Apologies in advance. Do these headphones simply plug into the headphone jack on my receiver? I've been hearing that some headphones will require an amp...is this the case with these headphones? You mention that you used them with Call of Duty and they performed very well. Can you hear things behind you while playing? Can you hear pretty precisely where sounds are coming from as opposed to simply "left or right" like normal stereo sound? I'm really looking for some nice headphones that I can use for gaming (Xbox360 & PS3) along with Blu-Ray watching. But my biggest thing with using headphones for gaming is the ability to hear directional sound much more accurately than simple stereo. Thanks in advance.

^^ You would need something like Astro mixamp for perfect positioning for gaming. This is purely based on what i have read. Some one can correct me if i am not right..

Thanks for the input.

Also, for what it's worth, my receiver is a Yamaha RX-V467 and is pretty new. It has a big gold plated headphone jack on the front and it says "silent cinema" next to the jack. No idea if any of this information helps. Can you tell I'm an audio noob?

My Yamaha has silent cinema, but I'm not really sure what that means. Would I still need something like the Astro mixamp or could I just plug the heaphones into the front of my Yamaha?
