Review: Fischer Audio FA-003 - a neutral champ!
May 19, 2012 at 6:05 PM Post #2,417 of 3,047
I have the Fischers and the Headstage Arrow (3G) sounds very good with them, the bass boost setting I meshes nice with the FA-003's FR. They have a 4G special with their DAC cable but still a bit over your budget.

So now that the OEM of these are available, are the original 003's destined to become a collector's item for their legendary scarcity, or a laughing stock for costing over twice as much as the generics?

Actually, Fischer never made them, they're manufactured by Yoga. Like all the rest, they just had their name stamped on them.

I have a work-around for this when my jaycars come in.  I bought some Shure srh1840/1440 pads for my T50rps (done a certain way sound heavenly) and got a second pair free due to a defect in one pad.  I will be testing the sound with these velour pads.  If they fit on the T50rp, there is a good chance they will fit on the FA-003 and clones.

As I said in my mini review, excellent isolation.

Damn, they're 79.99 AUD on jaycar.com.au but 50 USD on jaycar.us. Just ordered a pair - £32.50 shipped to the UK! Ridiculous.

Edit: went to jaycar down the road from me and bought a pair. 7 day refund policy, so what the hell.

Not to my taste. I the clamping force was incredible! Quite harsh and unforgiving compared to my ath-m50s. Isolation not that great either. I was hoping for something I could use on a plane. Quite detailed though, but not quite warm enough for me.

While the carry case is nice, the m50s can fold so you can chuck them in a pouch.

Needless to say, they'll be going back tomorrow.

Did you give them time to burn in?
