^ Ive only heard the HD555 for like 30 minutes once, but isnt it more or a dark signature? not bassy but it just felt dark or closed to me, maybe it was the lack of treble (comparing to a SR60i, which I had at the moment too)
 
the FA003 is more clear and way more detailed, and if you are in for the impactful bass kick and bass presence, the FA003 might dissapoint you, they do have but not "club like". they are awesome for Jazz though.
 
Comming from the HD555 to the FA003 would feel like leaving a dark cave and into a light shinny field with lot of new thing to glance at

Hah. I suppose they are darker and neutral (if that makes sense). The SR60is are definitely brighter (so I've heard). Clear and detailed would be nice, as well as a stronger, tight bass presence.
 
How are the 003s on string bass? Do you get the woody sound or something looser? "Club-like" is not what I'm looking for. More like tasteful, tight bass.

I would definitely not call the FA-003s club-like at all, they are too much of monitors for that.

Esw9 is my comfort portable inthecar phone...
It's not crystal clear, soft n mellow, not too soft..
Like a sonus faber on the cheap.

003 is a clearer headphone, intimate..in a similar vein..
One level up from the esw9.. N bigger too.

At the moment I am quite intrigued by the dt990/600
I like the accentuated bass n highs for acoustics, jazz, vocals.
When I want classicals, I just do a "enhance voice" EQ
And it sounds like a dt770/600 in a sec,
And the soundstage...OMG.

I am looking to upgrade around USD 350.
 
I have thought several options
1. Buy Fiio E9
SETUP: PC(USB) --> UDAC2 ---> Fiio E9 --> FA-003
 
2. Sell UDAC2 and buy Audinst HUD-MX1
SETUP: PC(USB) --> Audinst HUD-MX1 --> FA-003
 
3. Buy Maverick A1
SETUP: PC(USB) --> UDAC2 ---> Maverick A1 ---> FA-003
 
4. Buy Schitt Asgard
SETUP: PC(USB)--> UDAC2 ---> SChitt Asgard ---> FA-003
 
Too much options for me and i could not decide which one to go. I need some recommendations.

I dont think you should put so much money in amplification if its only gonna be for the FA003, it doesnt need that much power to shine.
I havent tried any of those amps you wrote down but I was this close to buy the Audinst HUD-MX1 once, mike at headfonia is very impress with it, he is not so much at the uDAC though.
 
 
I am gonna atempt to bring the FA003 to the office as a transportable rig, hopefully no one will think I'm crazy

I think the FA-003 responds well to better quality sources and amps however. I don't think any of those options is too much money for the FA-003 however.
 
I used the Audinst HUD-MX1 with the OPA627 opamp and i found it to sound great with the FA-003. It sounded better with my D100 and PPAv2 however
