RE0, RE1 and RE2 do not sound alike. You might want to read a few review first to find out which fits you best.

For those interested in alternative to earbuds - I've compared the best clip-ons I heard:

Yuin G1A, ATH-EW9, ultramodded KSC-35, Yuin G2A, DYI Grado clip-ons, KSC-75.

The RE0 can be had for silly cheap in australia at the moment.
I'm not sure what I just read; a review that put the 500 and the 4P ahead in SQ but then the final verdict was in favour of the RE0?
IMO the RE0 is great value for money but I personally wouldnt keep it over an ER4.

Let me underline my conclusions on SQ comparison:
  1. Portable use: E500 >= ER-4P > RE0
  2. Stationary use: ER-4S >= RE0 >= E500
These conclusions are placed at the ends of corresponding sections of the OP. There you may also find all the details regarding the comparison - source, tips, etc.

How is that "silly cheap" when they are selling for US99?

Since almost every audio gears in Australia is crazily expensive (I used to live in Sydney), AU$139 can be qualified as "silly cheap" for a local price.
