@mvvRAZ Are the XE6 and KR5 CIEM shells the same size, as in one does not stick our further from the ear than the other?
About the same, the 6 looks a bit bigger because of the matte

@mvvRAZ For Rock (ex: Linkin Park) does xen 6 play well in this style or would you recommend Kr5?
I haven't heard KR5 to compare but with the black or silver module, Linkin Park sounded excellent off XE6. There is real meat in that lower midrange that give drum hits true authority and punch. The overall midrange is nice and detailed too despite the thickness. XE6 treble is laid-back so notes like cymbals aren't too vivid but there is still good detail.

The XE6 dynamics overall just play nicely with LP's aggressive tracks (and even softer ones) IMO, for what it is worth.

What are your thoughts on matte vs non-matte (I guess that's just standard acrylic?), like does one provide more grip in your ear than the other?
I love the matte, so much so that I’m thinking of respelling my 5 into it. @aaf evo took some time to adjust to it though, to me it’s much more comfortable than regular acrylic

It's always difficult to choose. . Because from what I see they are both extremely good

That and based off the graphs I've seen, you're going to just need to hear them.

The lower midrange arc of the Xe6 looks crazy relative to the relaxed treble, a bit like the Fourte bump, but not the same, and without as much treble bite.
The Kr5 has an 8K peak that looks to me like snare drum overtones are going to sound whack, but impressions state otherwise. The peak may be gentle enough, idk, gotta hear it.
I have no idea at this point which model I would gravitate towards.

if you can’t demo them the KR5 is a safer bet IMO. I enjoy the XE6 more though myself.
I'm leaning that way too, but I have a N6ii Ti that may really like the Xe6? AudioTiers has a tour starting up soon, so I should get to hear all 3 of them thankfully.
I get excited about strangly tuned, personalty forward audio gear. I like an IEM that knows what it is and doesn't care what you think about it.

Yeah perhaps, I don't have the N6ii Ti but I know @mvvRAZ does. If you can wait for sure wait and demo them. They're both really good and offer something different. If I didn't have a custom a12t I'd probably be buying the Kr5 in CIEM. Not saying I won't still, but I'm being way way more cautious about it.

I'm with you on that too, nothing gets more boring in audio than when every new release is trying to just one-up each other with the same sound. FiR basically stuck their middle finger up and dropped 2 IEMs that are different to anything else and its a breath of fresh air.

Getting the same meal from the same restaurant is always a safe choice, but damn it I want to experience some new food! 😂

Can confirm that the 8k peak isn’t even close to noticeable on the Kr5, it has somewhat forward treble but not really heavily bright or anything

N6II R01 does well with the Xe6, but I personally need something even brighter for it like the diablo. Between the R01 and the PAW6000, definitely the N6II though, the PAW is way way too warm for it

@mvvRAZ
Did you have to change cables either Kr5 or Xe6? Or is the stock enough?
I changed the cable but I don’t think I’m a representative sample considering the first thing I did when I got the trailllii was put the 1960s back in the box :D
