It sounds like a potato, but it's such a fun device.

Hey, watch yourself. Insulting potatoes like that will get you roughed up in Idaho.

Must say I'm impressed by the R2R dongle, organic warm sound.

Mr. Walkman is the man...his mods allowed us to get more than most outta the 1A and 1Z in ways unimaginable. I tip my hat to that dude!

Went back to my Sony phone for a transport. Tried replacing it with the nw-a300 but the battery on that’s not so good plus UI was sluggish. Very very good battery & snappy UI on the phone. (10 hours streaming with DC Elite)
Recently realized that I love having a DAP that's pure music and no extras like Android. But I also need Android to download and organize my music. I almost bought a cheap Android DAP like the M300 or a V60 phone. Then I remembered I had my Sony 1iii sitting in a drawer lol. I put back my 1TB SD card and I'm ready to expand my library again.

BTW: is it better to use the USB for an Amp? Does using the jack as a LO have it's limitations?

I only have experience with dongles on phones, have not used an amp before so I can’t say. I also suggest downloading a button mapper to map volume buttons to control media. What I’ve done is:

Hold vol up:
Pause (so I don’t blow my ears)

Double tap vol up:
Next track

Double tap vol down:
Previous track

It really depends on your preferences on if up is next/previous.

depends on the dac and its implementation on the amp but i bet it will be better than the one in any phone.
