The carbon wrap is pretty cool!

On another note, does anyone remember that old picture of some guys rig consisting of an ipod shuffle and an AKG 702 with the shuffle clipped onto the AKG creating a "wireless" rig? Can anyone find pictures?

I think it might have been on one of the older pictures of your portable rig threads.

I posted a pic of my portable rigs a couple of days ago taken with my phone. in a hurry and in pretty poor quality.

Having only got to page 107 of this thread in 3 days reading (and fully intending to read all 12 or 13 of these threads) I understand that one cannot post enough pictures.

Therefore, here is my super portable, pub going rig.

Clip 8gb > Fiio > PL30's.

I hasten to add that prior to joining this forum I had a shuffle going into Senns CX300's and a Nano going into Senn CX300's for my desk at work.

I NOW have:

Clip bought after reading on this forum SQ was good, Fiio bought after reading on this forum that SQ v Price was awesome (a sure winner for ANYONE who wants to just get started, AudioMagic PL30's.

For my desk at work, Nano (with a 4th generation 60gb iPod in the post to me, after reading that the 4th, 5th and 5.5 gen iPods have improved DAC) going into a iBasso T4 via iBasso LOD, feeding Phonak Audeo PFE 112. I can listen to music ALL day long in the job that I do.

Notwithstanding the AKG701's I bought from here to add to the Grado SR80's I already had.

I think this forum has cost me the best part of 500 nicker in the past few months.... but I love it.

This thread is just awsesome, and now I'm contemplating a LOD manufactured by one of your good selves.

Posh pictures of my new iPod + Ibasso + PFE's to follow.

Carlos.

------------

I've seen that pic and I'm only on page 107, so I'd suggest it's before that!

Doesn't help much I know, but might narrow it down.

It's called 3M Dry Carbon... people usually use it to wrap car parts (hoods, trunks, interior trim pieces). I don't really know where to buy that stuff as someone on my local Subaru forum had an entire roll. I bought some to wrap my laptop lid with... looks really good, you can take it off quite easily and does not leave any residue.

@lootbag. 3m doesn't sell it. I found it at Carbonfibergear.com I ordered a 12"x12" sheet. I plan on wrapping my portable rig in a single sheet. Everything bundeled up in one sheet. No more rubber bands or velcro.

That's what I'm planning on doing. Cut it to fit the screen and scroll wheel. I won't be wrapping the top and bottom. Start with it under the iPod around the front to the back of the amp and close it at the oppositie side of the iPod. Like one big shrink wrap.

I keep my stuff in a coat jacket so it's not exposed or in a tight space.

I have a broken case that I'll maybe ues as underwear and guide to cutting to fit.
