The HE-6? Sounds like you need a Dark Star or something with some serious voltage.![]()
From what I understand the Dark Star's design is a bit dated and has a warm tonality. If that is true, I don't think that is something I'd be interested in. Plus the price is rather unappealing. Thanks for the recommendation though, will give it a further look!

Eric,
Is the HE-6 new since you sold the TH900? Have you considered a vintage amp for those HE-6's? From what I've read on that thread it may be the way to go, either HPO or speaker taps.
Yep the HE-6 are new. I'm giving them another chance after having mixed results after two semi-long auditions. I have an amp in the works that should full drive the HE-6 without any problems at least in terms of power.

I recognize all the Blue Circle equipment. (I have owned a lot of their low-end equipment and enjoyed it a lot and have heard their good stuff at shows and at a dealer friend's house). But what is the tube equipment you have? The photo isn't big enough for me to really tell.
Actually the amp is mine. Have added a blue circle 3000 mkii GZpz preamp since then. The tube preamp and amps are made by DejaVu , a local shop. Preamp uses 6sn7 and amps are 2A3 push pull. Also a 300b from the same shop I use sometime with the he-6.

Great. I've been to Vu's shop a couple of times on business trips to DC. That's a great kit you have My latest BC plans are to pick up the speaker headphone adapter Gilbert makes. I want to try it on my Fi 2A3/45 monos and then I'll give it to my son to use with his 300B integrated, as i think Fi stuff may be a bit noisy through headphones.

Missing the HD800 I just got this week, but here is my simple set-up.
![](https://www.head-fi.org/attachments/1000081/)
Audio-GD Reference 10.32 --> HP-out into HD800/T1 or --> Pre-amp out into Topping TP60 into HE-6.
Next mission will be to upgrade my speaker amp for the HE-6, but I will take my time over that, for now the diminutive TP60 is surprisingly satisfying.

Yeah, Gilbert made the adapter for me. I am thinking about another one where you can vary the serial resistance. Cleaner sound and more flexible than he adapter. The bc 204 goes to canada next month to modify the tube input stage. Either shift to his new solid state design or one that lets you switch between solid state and tube input (or even lend them). Preamp gets bigger power supply.

OK. Gilbert mentioned your "adapter" to me. Keep us posted on that. As for the 204, do you know the typology of the SS new driver stage?

Based on the NST. See discussion here http://www.bluecircle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1664. We are going to talk when he gets the amp about whether to do something that gives a ss and a tube option. Btw, there is a 206 on canuck audio mart from a dealer where the input stage has been changed to NST.

Thanks for the reference and the heads-up on the 206. I'll pass. My amps range from 1.5W (45 tube) to 12W (Class A PP KT88 triode-wired). I'm not going higher. If I ever get an SS amp, it will probably be along the lines of a FirstWatt.

I've just rearranged my audio gear on my audio rack, so I couldn't resist showing a couple of photos.
