The Pioneer is on that price range so I think he might mean sub-1k but can't see how they will sell it for anything sub-$700

The Pioneer does have the built-in speaker ("made by Onkyo" lol) and bolted-on parts so maybe we won't see a big difference in price. We know a second dac chip is not equal to a tiny speaker but I doubt they expect the casual buyer to know the difference.

The icon I'm talking about is between the Wi-fi icon and the battery indicator. Now it may not be a signal strength icon but it's not another wi-fi meter either.
