IIRC that adapter has a thicker ZIF connector, try inserting a thin piece of paper on top of the cable.

Good point. It's too easy to push the ribbon too far into the ZIF connector, missing the contact points. You get the knack eventually. The ribbons that came with Hitachi iPod drives had longer contacts - these are ideal for these green adapters. But sourcing them seems impossible (unless you pull out an Hitachi from another iPod).

Oh, and I don't think there's a volume difference between US and EU models of the iPod Video. That occurred later with the iPod Classics.

There's quite a few circa 2006/2007 threads about EU volume limits on 5.5g iPods, as well as releases from gopod and QTfairuse6 for 5.5g iPods... although without digging too much into it, it may just be talking about the user set volume limit function.

Wow! I had no idea. I found this :

Tried the described method but I didn't notice a difference on a 5.5 gen 80GB iPod bought new in the UK.

Doesn't matter. The 5th gens are quite loud enough for me.

Hi , I have a 160gb iPod Classic, I have all the parts new casing buttons etc. Tarkans Quad flash chip , however I'm looking for a 2000 Mah battery however the only link i could find the ebay seller is not accepting payments.

Can you recommend a site or a link that would sell a extended battery for iPod , I'm trying to keep the slim factor without buying the thicker back.

Its the last piece of the puzzle and I've lost my mind looking for one.

I get my batteries from this seller. Not the 2000mah but this performs better than the 3000mah battery.

I got a 3000mAh battery off of eBay. It works well, I get 5+ days of solid playback with it.

How does the 3000 mah battery not perform well compared to the 1900?
my 3000mah battery drains power even when it's not in use. Don't last as long as my 1900mah battery. I get a couple weeks of battery life from my 1900mAH on a 5 + hrs average daily use.

Also the 1900mah doesn't appear to drain much energy if my iPod is turned off.

Hi guys,

During serveral months I've been having a very odd issue on my iPod (5.5G modded with a 128 GB card and Tarkan's adapter). It turns out that some of the tracks will stop in the middle of the song or nearly at the end, while others are simply skipped.

Not long time ago I was having a similar issue with iTunes on my iMac too, which seemed to affect only recently imported .mp3 files (that was what I got from other users in the Apple Support Communities and in my case it happened to coincide).

Now songs seem to go fine in iTunes but the iPod still has these issues. Has anybody else experienced something like this? Did Apple messed up something with an update or what?

Does the 1900 mah fit the slim case with the tarkan quad ?
Yes, you just new to saw off the protrusion on the frame that supports the back of the LCD backplate. It's mentioned in Tarkan's website. You just need a small hacksaw and would take around 10 min.

I used four 512gb PNY cards, a Tarkan quad adapter, and four Sintech SD to microSD adapters.

Just built a 2TB using the Tarkan Quad/classic v7/sintech SD2MicroSD/PNY 512/Rockbox configuration previously described. Loading music now. I had no issue stacking the adapters inside using a standard ipod battery.
