I have been able to but just over 24,000 songs on a 30GB 5th gen, it works fine until I shut it off. When I turn it back on I get the sad face, I have yet to confirm if it is the 20,000 song limit that is giving me the sad face. But for the half hour I used it before I shut it off it played every song throughout my library, the only issue is that it would not load album art just a white box.

Also has anyone had success building a terapod using the 2.0.4 firmware? I have a 2.0.5 firmware terapod that works flawlessly, up the 2.0.4 that I'm working on gets (-50) errors when syncing 30GB at a time. I know the files, tarkan adapter, 1tb msata, and sync cable are good because they work with my 5th gen and sync fine.

Metalhead2015, the problem with the white box instead of album art is easily fixable with a reboot/reset of the iPod. I had the same problem recently after a synchronisation through iTunes, with all the songs showing a white box. When I rebooted the iPod all the album art came out fine.

I also had the white box (album art) after every sync up on iTunes on a 5.5G 30GB logic board with 18,000 songs.  A reboot fixes it of course.

I since then have upgraded my logic board to the 5G 60GB, no problems with that one.

How many songs did you have loaded when you had this?

I had 16776 songs.

If you went from a 5.5G 30GB logic board to a 5G 60GB, wouldn't that be a downgrade? As in from a 64Mb logic-board to a 32Mb logic-board? I am using a 5.5G 30GB logic board by the way.

  1.
  2. Noodles5666: Do you have a  512GB SDXC card? I'd like to hear test results with:
  3. - iPod Photo, non-Tarkan adaptor (if you have one)
  4. - 5th gen Video, Tarkan SD-CF adaptor
  5. - 5.5 gen Video, Tarkan SD-CF adaptor
  6. - PQI Air Card with SD F to microSD M adaptor (though I guess you don't have this)

I'm in Taiwan, still waiting for my Tarkan adaptors to ship (after 1 month!). I tested a Transcend 256GB SDXC last night. The iPod Photo accepts it, but the PQI Air Card doesn't. So my WiPod is only half-functional. Thankfully the man in the store let me test the card before I bought it!

Oh, and are the Tarkan SD-CF adaptors type II or type I, do you know?

Let me get this straight... The iPod Photo (4th gen color) will take a 256GB card? Does it see the entire capacity? Any idea if it is all usable?

4th gen owners want to know!

As for the Tarkan adapter, IO'm pretty sure it is Type II.

my understanding is that both 30GB 5G AND 5.5G Video have only 32MB RAM... higher capacity (sizes greater than base 30GB) 5G and 5.5G have 64MB RAM.

That's what I thought.  Though what _is_ the difference between 5G and 5.5G apart from (a) the presence of a 'search' function, and (b) the 5.5G using a stupid non-standard disk format?
