We don't talk about our product road map, but we are always up to something 😉. (In China today)
lol....I did not expect to get an answer to your product roadmap, I was hoping to plant a seed. :)

Headed back to Thailand, but I'll be back in Hong Kong on the 24th....

Got an announcement to make then.

I recently acquired the Ragnars. I coming from the UM Maven2 and the Xe6 before that. I found them both on the bassy side of neutral.

My impression is that the Ragnars are on the bright side of neutral, with decent bass extension. Is that a common impression?

So far, nothing I have tried beat Ragnars detailing and Soundstage. The APX-SE matched resolution, but was overall a dark signature from neutral and bit less Soundstage overall.
So far nothing eclipses the Ragnars except in bass.

So my question for Ragnar owners: is my impression of somewhat neutral bass + slightly brighter than neutral signature , what others hear?

The general view is that you're correct. However, when you write "So far nothing eclipses the Ragnars except in bass" you must be talking about bass quantity and definitely not quality, as that is marvelous.

You might try tip rolling some. I normally like the Divinus Velvet, but the Ragnars really like the Spinfit W1 more. The bass is much better.

Oh yes, for bass quality, the bass resolve on the Ragnar was also the highest level that I had heard as well. This definitely is a full rage resolve.

Yes I have spinfit and a few others.

So for the " moar bass" issue, I had made a custom variable impedance adapter, which I have been testing a various range of impedances. With this I have had success.

Luckily for the Ragnars, an impedance adapter lowered the upper FR output level very evenly. So I was able to increase the low range, at some expense of overall output loudness. I just needed to raise the volume. I was essentially able to change the Ragnars signature from slightly brighter, to more neutral, to even more bassy, to dark(!).

I tried a wide range, and found these results best:

43ohm = start to be less forward energy, and start or more soundstage depth (!).

48-53ohm = start to become less treble prominent (than neutral) & more relaxed.

55-58ohm = start of upper mids to be positioned deeper into mix, gaining Soundstage depth/holography (!). Almost neutral tonality but still slight on bright side.

62-65ohm = trebles start to drop more evenly with mids. mids holography increased further (!), together with more bass. Juicy/lively tonality remained.

67-68 = sweet spot range of all three aspects: maximized soundstage Holography + bassy tonality, while still retaining treble liveliness, falling into the neutral range.

70ohm = end/limit of the sweet spot. After this point is loosing trebles liveliness below neutrality. No gains in soundstage.

73ohm = upper range starts to get dulled (less upper range than neutral). More noticable lower range (darker presentation). Same/similar amount of bass.

I have concluded that (for me) a 68ohm impedance adapter achieves my personal taste. It gives me a noticeable bass lift, and noticably deeper Soundstage (a hidden potential), while preserving a neutral upper range.

The Ragnars are quite an amazing IEM already, yet even more amazing was the trait of having the ability to adjust the whole FR upper range pretty evenly, and just lowered in level.

I don't think any IEM out there can match this unit's realism + soundstage, especially with an impedance adapter. It is a great advantage for this IEM to be able to be "tuned" this way, without messing anything up tonally. Not all IEMs would remain so linear when trying this, as it really depends on the IEM.

For those who would like to try this, get an Ohmmeter and a variable adapter, to test your preference. There's one adapter on Amazon.

Once you find your own preferred setting, you can then test the adapter with Ohmmeter to find the preferred setting, to make a custom adapter with that setting.

I found some rhodium plugs on AliExpress (cannot link) that have enough space inside, to fit small, ultra quality high grade (hospital) resistors for a fixed adapter .

These Ragnars are now my True end game summit fi - TOTL IEM, bar none.

Maybe that's why the iFi GoBar Kensei has always gone really well with them. It has 3 different impedance settings.

Counting down… breath held… fingers crossed… and quietly wishing for Rex5 2.0 with a waterproof rating—for walk in the rain, splashy mishaps, and the inevitable ‘I knocked over my sugar-free vanilla milk latte again’ scenario. Don’t leave us high and dry… or just dry! lol..... :)

Im going to have to postpone that announcement. (Sorry)

But it won't be a long delay.
