Have been listening to the Katana.

Beautiful Thing in real life, a definite improvement from even the k10u shell in my opinion. I used to love how noble had these tiny shells considering the driver count. That sort of changed when the new (albeit better, more beautiful) lineup came out, as explained by noble. I could not be happier with the katana' shell, extremely lovely shaped, sized and lovely fit.

Now as for the sound? I think, personally, it's an improvement over the k10 technically. Better staging and imaging for one, and a more balanced sound to my ears. The k10 isn't bad mind you, I have one too. But I think the katana has taken it to another level.

The katana isn't analytical though, compared to the savanna, the neutral reference it is noticeably fuller, with a much better and bigger bass which goes deep and is well controlled

I have begun working on a review of it, so do look out for it in a week or Two! :)

Anyone with questions about it feel free to ask me!

Do the custom earphones need more maintenance than the universals. Do they eventually corrode after a while due to the better seal which would Ok also trap the moisture?

Custom acrylics don't really have moisture issues, at least when compared to silicone customs

How are the mids/treble extension? One of the few things I'd like for the K10 to be improved on is the treble rolloff at the high end and perceived peak. I'm also curious as to how the mids are presented, since the K10 uses a slight upper mid lift for more musicality and microdetails.

I find the K10 to have a tad too much emphasis on the upper midrange, and the Katana has brought that down to a level that I prefer. It is very present mind you, just less in your face than how the K10 presents it.

The highs are also more present than on the K10, better extension, but I would still put them on the slightly gentler side as of now. I have to try them out with more songs to give a more definite answer.

The bass is decreased from the K10, but its still very present, present enough to feel that sub bass rumble, and with enough energy to give a nice impact. I won't say it's the hardest hitting, but its adequate.

Soundstage and imaging are noticeably improved over the K10, with a less forward presentation.

Very nice description, that helps a lot, and I can now see why some people would still prefer the K10 over the Katana.
Thanks.
