Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

That's some serious money for decoration (beautiful design indeed!) purposes only

But hey, maybe there's a discount for some hollow shells...

Yes sir, $2,799 can be hard on the wallet, Noble also offers the K10 SLA CIEM at $1,450, a no frills option for those that place a higher priority on utility over aesthetics.

What is the difference between a 3D-printed model and acrylic one?

They should sound the same but the 3D printed version only has plain colours, in contrast the acrylic version can basically look however you want it to. Hope that helps.

AFAIK acrylic has greater customisation options because it can be poured and moulded as opposed to the SLA process which is essentially carving the shell via a printer.

"Carving" is a subtractive  process like a CNC mill process (Prestige CIEM)   We start with a solid block of medium, wood, wizard wood, Carbon Glass etc etc, and mill the CIEMs into the shape of the ear (via a 3d scan of the ear mold impression)

SLA is an additive process. The below vdo is a SLA process for hearing aids

The traditional process =  "Hand Poured"    the acrylic resin is hand mixed, and poured into molds made from the ear mold impression.   Hand poured allows for more options such as colors, fine glitter, gold etc etc to be added into the resin.

The disadvantage is time.

Hand Poured

SLA -

Advantage = time
Disadvantage = can not apply art work (not nearly on the scale of hand poured CIEMs)

SLA

CNC mill   (all Prestige CIEMs are CNC milled)

Disadvantage = Time, some CIEMs can take over 24 hrs of mill time
Disadvantage = cost (due to time)
Advantage = a cool factor of 10
Advantage = Awesome looking

Noble has a tier system.

Top Tier,  the Prestige  (CNC mill)

2nd Tier, Hand poured, and there are tiers within that category as well

  A - Owner self selects his/her design
  B - Wizard Reprint (a similar design to a Wizard design)   ($200 option)
  C - Wizard Design (a one off design)    ($400 option)

3rd Tier SLA

   Only options are a selection of limited colors.

How long does it usually take for the resin to cure? This is just out of my own curiosity, hope you don't mind.

Personally I think the real life profile is better than the pictures, and I love them. I mean, maybe my design isn't your cup of tea, but I think regardless you have to appreciate the beauty. Some wizard designs aren't exactly what I'm looking for, but I still appreciate the beauty of the craftsmanship, and the best part of a wizard design is that you get what you want, not what someone else wants.

Well said, and I agree!

I am guessing I already know the answer to this but I don't suppose you guys at Noble are working on a K10 tuned over ear?

Regardless, anyone got any recommendations for an over ear headphone that is similar to the K10 in signature? Excluding Audeze as they are just too heavy. Thanks in advance for the advise.

Maybe one of the higher end Hifiman? HE-1000 sounded somewhat similar IMO

Edit: I guess that doesn't fix your heavy issue haha

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at them but they are a bit heavy and also outside my price range really. Max would be about £1500. I think my max weight is around 400g unless there is some super design that compensates in pure comfort. Anyone heard the Pioneer Master 1? They are supposed to be balanced with a bit of bass boost like the K10s.

LOL, I am really interested in this texture of carbon fiber, have it ever be available in decal sticker?
haha

Noble avoids the use of stickers, we like to keep our ciems unique, and individualized for the owner. Stickers arent really a part of that mission
