Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

This thread is making me think about some K10 CIEMs. I'm not too far from giselle, what do I need to know about getting molds done?
Some CIEM look really long, some shorter, what's the story?
Or should I just get the UA K10, love the colours.

I agree with Wata, but since I get very good fit from my K10UAs I don't think I will be getting customs. If you are able to get a good seal with universals, they should sound the same while probably loosing a bit of isolation.

How much do your ears change shape as you age? The K10 UA are very nice. If the difference isn't massive I may stay universal.

From what I recall, its only as issue for someone really young. Once you are an adult, it wont matter, I have heard extreme weight loss can cause them to change. This is kind of question John can answer with better accuracy. But I try and help anyone I can, even if I am wrong.

Crappy iPhone pics....

They actually look good, in a very understated way. Love the black.

Anyway, welcome to the Noble family, RELIC, and enjoy your K10!

You can always ask for the canals to be a bit longer, like a musician's fit. Personally, I prefer longer canals, as some of my customs have shorter ones that don't feel as comfortable as ones with a longer stem (like my K10).

In any case, I've always taken molds with a half-open jaw, and this has resulted in some excellent custom fits.

Anyway, I'd advocate going for a custom over a universal owing to the sheer comfort factor. A well made CIEM feels like it's not there at all. With universals, I can only wear them for about half an hour before requiring a short break. With customs, I can wear them for 2 hours without experiencing any comfort issues. Of course, you can always play around with tips with universal shells.

Good luck with your choice! In the end, you're still getting a fantastic earphone.

Another vote for customs here. Honestly, the only advantages I can see for universals are resale value and maybe not having to wait as long. Some will say universals are easier to pop in and out, but for me it's just as easy with customs. There's always a chance you'll need a refit, hence the wait factor. Customs are superior in terms of the "long game." Greater comfort and perfect seal every time, which covers what I'd say are the top two complaints one can have with IEMs.

Best case scenario: audition the universals to make sure you like them. Then the resale issue becomes mute. Of course, there's already a good chance you'll like the #1 rated CIEM on Head-Fi

The black do look good, hope we can see the other colors just for fun.

I've had silicon customs in the past. As it is not possible to produce the ornate designs with silicon, I always chose clear to show the drivers and crossovers. Is this an option with SLA?

The smoke might be translucent enough, but then again it might not.

Yes, it looks like the red and blue would also be semi-transparent and would explain why the black is described as solid.
