Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

I saw the Savant in his profile...

The "money to burn" is pretty far from the case here.. I'm just trying to make a modest upgrade or even better a lateral move price wise from the Andromeda but into something that has a better sound signature for my tastes.

Thanks again..

The Katana is not a modest upgrade

karnabn ghia.jpg

While I love the Karman Ghia, it is no Porsche 918 (Spider)

Porsche-918-Spyder.jpg

Objective differences:

The Savant Housing is spat out of an injection mold machine at a rate of around 50 every 10 seconds
Savant Housing material, ABS plastic
Face plate, glued on to the shell body
Bass driver Size 0.248" L x 0.169" W (6.30mm x 4.29mm)

The Housing on the Katana, around 10 sets a day can be milled and anodized.
Katana Housing material, aeronautical grade solid billet aluminum, that is Fully CNC'd
Face Plate/Cap pressed on to the housing with a 4 ton press
Bass driver Size 0.373" L x 0.283" W (9.47mm x 7.18mm)

The bigger the bass driver, the greater potential (if implemented well)

If Money is a large concern, the Kodachi is scheduled to be released around October, it will be at a more wallet friendly price point than its companion the Katana.

The Kodachi will have the same housing as the Katana, but will differ in color scheme.

OOOOHH... I like the sound of that!!!

I certainly did not mean a modest upgrade from the Savant! I meant what I diplomatically called a modest upgrade from the Andromeda so as not to tread on the toes of those who love that iem. I'm sure there are those out there who would prefer the Andro to the Katana.. Heck, I'm not sure how many of us like the Savant over the Andro but I sure do but the friend I got the Savants off of did not.

My "modest" upgrade was a financial thing.. I've a prince's taste on a pauper's budget unfortunately... As much as I would love to just order a Katana right now, I cannot afford that.. But now I might just hold off and save the pennies for that Kodachi depending on what the signature is like..

I actually grew up being around professional orchestras, so I guess you could say I started at the moon. There was always something missing when I listened to headgear, I just never had the means to obtain the top tier stuff to scratch that itch, nor did I know there was such gear in the first place until I stumbled upon this place. I have to say the Encores are scratching itches I didn't know I had, so you could say I'm back on the moon. I'm having a hard time forming an objective opinion about any other headgear at this point, as even the Sennheiser HE1 or the HiFiMan Shangrila didn't scratch the right itches when I compare them to the Encore. That's just me though.
I was underwhelmed by the HE1 when I heard it. Love my K10's. Encore even more when I heard them.

Don't get me wrong, the HE1 is a marvel in engineering, it sounded amazing. It just didn't resonate with me on a level that the Encores did, they actually took me to a different place when I had them in my ears at canjam two years ago, that's why I had to get my own.

really ? all he ever talks about is his 2-channel system and his Empire Ears Phantom iem, which he finds the best iem and the perfect balanced sound (@ctsooner22 chime in about those Phantom of yours, chief...)

like i said , seeing you have money to burn head over there and ask about TOTL options

cheers

@proedros I love you man, lol .... Yes, I have a pair of the blue swirl Savants. They were the first ever IEM I purchased. I think John has the only other pair in this swirl, but I'm not sure. It's a wonderful IEM, but I needed more. New to this thread. I have a pretty high end 2 channel system. When I was healthy years ago (MS and Transverse Myelitis) I helped MANY folks put together their 2 channel systems. Some of them north of 1 million usd. Price doesn't always mean better in 2 channel and in the IEM world it certainly doesn't mean the best as we all know.

A few of the things that I've noticed in this IEM world is that too many folks forget about synergy. they come on the boards and ask Pinky, @flinkenick or any of the other posters who review what THEY like. They don't take into consideration how that reviewer listens and hears. I have found only 1 reviewer in the IEM world who I swear hears the same as I do. It's scary, but every time I send him to go listen to something in the 2 channel world, he hears just what I hear. When I need advice, I go to Nic. It's good to have a go to.

That go to for me could be @PinkyPowers . I know basically how he hears sounds only by his reviews. I can easily sift through and read what a product does as he's a great writer, but he likes things with a different flavor than I. @Deezel177 and I are closer in what we like (pretty darn close actually), but over time of reading his thoughts on products, it's easy for me to figure out what something will probably sound like to me. It takes a lot of time though and you really want to, plus you need to hear what's out there.

I've also noticed many aren't using the TOTL sources, DAC's and amps, but they will spend a lot of money on a cable for tuning. I would never tune using a cable (that's just me). I own and am going to sell my Ak380cu with matching cu amp in order to get the 1000. I use a nearly 10k Ayre QX5?20 DAC, amp/server at home and the Savant's and Phantom's scale incredibly well.

I have heard the top IEM's for most companies at this point and made some choices, but for a variety of reasons. SQ was utmost importance to me as it always is. Feel free to PM me or leave a post if you have any questions. I'd love to know your 2 channel rig as well as what you would Love to own, to get an idea of HOW you listen. For me, I go against the grain in the IEM world in that I feel strongly that a top IEM should sound great on any genre of music from EDM to choral. That's how a great 2 channel speaker is and personally I"ve found IEM's to be no different. JMHO (tough MS day as this post took me all morning tot put together, lol)...that's too funny.

It will be interesting to know how the new shell Kodachi will sound as the sample version already won me over.......

Noble had 5 billion 5 star reviews here with the OG K10, its for a reason. The dude knows how to make a sound people like. I know more about the Kodachi in term of the release, start getting excited.

Katana #1.jpeg

Keeping things 100%

It wasn't 5 billion five stars, the last count that I am aware of was 31, but to me the most important aspect was the fact that they were 31 consecutive 5 star reviews, which has never been done before or since in the history of Head-Fi.

The Katana was bestowed "IEM of The Year" in Japan, indicating to me, the co-flagship of the Encore was well received in Japan.

I hope the Kodachi, is a fitting companion to its partner.
