Hmm, what I take away from that article is the A12 chassis is too small to move enough air for that ultimate low end. I used to think 10 drivers per ear was pushing the limits of usability but maybe one day someone will build a VMPS for the ear and we can walk around with 22 drivers in each ear with a chassis the size of Uhura' s earpiece

Why have many small speakers when you can have just one giant one. Example from an old gem. 30th Anniversary this year.

These photos take me back.  I had pair of Acoustic Research AR-9's back in the '80s. For a combined weight of 270lbs.  I won them at a corporate Christmas party.  We owned AR at the time.  I ended up giving them away. It was a sad day but unfortunately to really enjoy these you need to play them at a moderate volume which my neighbors didn't like. I guess 150WPC was too much for them.  I do miss them.

So it's now K10U's for me.

Well duh on the K10's, those speakers look kinda heavy to be hanging on your ears.

As a kid I was a big fan of the B&W 808's. Things were like fridges and weighed 180 lbs each! For some reason I couldn't afford the $17,000 price tag as a senior in high school...

Cheers

Well of course, but this was 1988 and the speakers were worth more than twice the value of my car!

But if you really want to go big...

You could probably trade a set of these for a Veyron!

My man cave / 2-channel rig.

Had to add the vent hoods for the summer due to the 600w of heat given off across the 24 tubes! It's nice in the winter though.

Cheers

At a quick glance it looks like the window crushed the Wicked Witch of the East! :)
