New Shure SE215 - First Impressions

I quite like the SE215 for classical as it has decent instrument separation and a good sound stage. I don't listen to you other genres but dance has a strong bass beat which would be done very well by the SE215 as well so they would be good I think.

For more money I suspect the FXT90 might be a more expensive option.

If isolation is really important the nod would go to the Shure's.

An old friend revisited. After months of just using my GR07 and my M80's I pulled out my collection of IEM's and after trying them all found myself grooving to the SE215 the most.

So here I am typing this on the train and marveling at how well these sound and ISOLATE! I love my GR07 but think the SE215 really does offer something unique and needed in the market and I think they are worth their asking price.

These are going back in my daily kit if for nothing more than the train and those days I want the infamous Shure midcentric sound.

Are you serious? These have a sound stage? It sounds no more around me then my grados. In fact i feel my grados are a little better when it comes to instrument separation.

For an IEM they have better than average sound stage. They are not the best but then again I only said a good sound stage. They are not great at anything but they are good at a lot of things and the sound pretty good for classical music. Oops they do one thing great, ISOLATION, I imagine an Ety might give more but I can't stand triflange tips so Shures with the Olive tips are very isolating in my opinion.

Argh. Really wanted to get these as i needed new IEMs. (UEs temporarily out of comission)
Sadly, sold out everywhere. Ended up with SE315s instead.
Loving them so far and keep getting more used to them, but I really wish I could have gotten SE215s.

Be careful with E-bay and Amazon resellers.  If they're not authorized Shure dealers, you'll lose out on the 2 year warranty.  There are plenty of Head-Fi sponsors who are Shure authorized dealers.

I bought mine from this amazon seller; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&sshmPath=at-a-glance&isAmazonFulfilled=1&marketplaceID=A1F83G8C2ARO7P&isCBA=&orderID=203-5643762-6111560&asin=&seller=A13PAUL9QRS240&isPopup=

What's the difference between the real and the fake once? How can I know if I've got the real once?

Got the SE215, on Friday, and I am really liking it a lot. I have to EQ it on the iPhone to tame the highs to my tastes (which is to reduce the sibilance).

Now thinking of there is a big difference between the SE215 to the SE535? Is it worth the big jump in price?

I actually went from the SE535 to the SE215. Never looked back and saved a few hundred dollars!

Thanks JShitte. What were the main differences between the SE215 and the SE535?

Does this still have the reported issues of sound cutting out? Also, is it true that the black version's cable is not as stiff as the clear version's cable? I remember reading something about that somewhere around here.

So.. after much reading, digging around and anticipation, I decided to pick up a pair from a local Fry's.

Despite the horrific reviews I've been reading about earlier batches having problems; I question and worry if I will end up with the same problem.

I got the clear-black one and been listening to some; dvorak, tchaikovsky, tiesto, lil wayne, red and abr... pretty damn impressed, not gonna' lie.

Only thing that is sort of bothering me is.. it's missing the triple flange silicone tips. Didn't you guys get those with yours? I was excited and immediately opened mine in my car at Fry's parking lot to see everything inside... I was under the impression they are suppose to come with the triple flanges. So I went back inside and we opened another box at customer service to see if they were in there. Nope.

What? No triple flange tips. Hmm :frowning2:

Any ideas?

I just got my black 215s from Guitar Center.  So far they very, good straight out of the iPod.  Playing around with different tips.
