The Shure SE215 is brighter than the Shure SE846 according to frequency graphs, yet the Shure SE846 sounds way more clearer. The Shure SE215 is just veiled that is unrelated to the frequency response.
Probably (good) Balanced Armature drivers are just more clearer sounding.

Hi, I have just bought my first pair of IEM's for use on the go. I usually use Senn HD600's or AKG K702's, so I am making big adjustments. I let them burn in for 30 hours before I started wearing them and I must say I am impressed. The only negative I have at the moment is around getting the perfect seal with the buds, I think I am there now with the medium foams, but I would like to try some of the three flange silicone tips; could anyone suggest a make?
I use them with my Fiio X5, going through the LO to a Neco Soundlab proto-type and the they sound very cool indeed. I mainly listen to Dylan, The Faces, The Stones and Billy Bragg.
Just curious has anyone tried any of shures other earphone sleeves on the 215's?
At the moment I am using the big foam sleeve, it is the best sounding
one that is included in my opinion, do the sleeves increase bass, treble, mids
and what one is best out of them.
If I were you, I will get different iem. There are plenty of cheaper iems that sound better then SE215 right now. Vsonic VSD3S is one of them and it sounds cleaner than the SE215. Although the build quality is less than the SE215.
the only thing that worries me about the VSD3S is that like the VSD1S, the stock tips didn't provide a good fit/isolation unless i use the foam ones, but isolation could still be better. I'm also looking for better bass response.
I found this on the VSD1 thread:
Comparison between vsd1 and vsd3s.
Bass thump. You can feel it on vsd3s and not much on vsd1.vsd3s mids are a little more clear and refined.TBH everything is better on the vsd3s.Now would I have got the vsd3s if my vsd1's weren't stolen in the first place ? NO.The improvements are there but not worth it.I would've waited for vsd5 maybe but then again my red-blue vsd3s looks kickass
You'd probably like the VSD3 more than the VSD3S for more bass. The foam tips are improved on the VSD3 and would help with isolation. There's no venting on the VSD3 so it isolates decently (I don't find a problem with them with the stock biflanges), but I can't compare it to the Shures from memory.
I feel the need to own a pair of these after quickly hearing them. They have an excellent sound unlike anything I currently own. They sound of a reference quality for most of today's music. They just sounded awesome to me and I want a pair in my collection.
