New Hidizs AP200 double DAC Android-based smart music player

Thank you for the answer! Really appreciate that.
I usually listen to orchestra music, classical, or movie music (Hans Zimmer, Jesper Kyd, Ennio Morricone, Alexandre Desplat for instance). I don't exclude other genres because I sometimes like to listen to different kinds of music.
But I would say that I prefer to feel the right tone of instruments without any coloration.
I use low impedence iem, as soon as possible I will buy Sennheiser IE800 or similar earphones. Anyway I use only Single Ended output since I don't have any balanced iem/headphone.
Thanks!

With Violins, AP200 might have more emphasis on the higher registers, might sound more dramatic/emotional rather than relaxed. depends on what you like :smile_phones:

I'd say that Classical in general would sound good on both, but violins might be advantaged by the sparkly top end of AP200.

Ie800 will work wonders with both, ie800 is a great IEM by itself

Thank you so much!
I'm trying the FiiO X5iii, I like it but I'm not so satisfied.
I'm missing the wow effect, where is it?
I tried the various dac filters, nothing...
Situation changes when I installed Neutron Music Player, amazing audio quality. I think that this great app is in another level. That's the big and huge advantage of running Androis OS on a dap. I was sceptical about Android (in old version still in 2017) on a dap but today I'm changin perspective.
I hope Hidizs will release the AP200 as soon as possible.
It would be very curious to make a smart comparison between FiiO X7ii and AP200 in SE (single ended) output mode. Anyway, great experience with FiiO X5iii.
I'm not saying that X5iii is worst but with the genre of music I listen to I'm missing the wow effect which I was waiting for.

Glad to help!

Also, Android is sweet since now you can install whatever app works best for you!

I’ll
It would be great to know if USB 3.1 has been implemented or if they are just using the USB-C port but running it in USB 2.0 mode. Because the CoC the AP200 users is the Rockchip’s K3188 and it only supports USB 2.0, so unless Hidiz have a dedicated controller in it. I wonder if @Hidizs Hk @Hidizsofficial can comment please?

Looks like someone (that’s not me) cut & pasted my question from here on Kickstarter...

Anyway, unfortunately it’s only using USB 2.0. Not a deal breaker, just know how nice USB 3.1 is.

Also, unless I’m not understanding correctly, the campaign details are a little disingenuous aren’t they? - Quote - “The AP200 utilizes USB Type-C, the most up-to-date USB connection type, for faster data transfer and charging speeds.”

Yeah, it would be nice... But kinda expected especially in a more budget friendly DAP where keeping the cost down is important. I don't think it's that big deal a on a DAP.

Well it really depends on a few things if its important for a DAP or not and how you use it...

For example I loaded FLAC files onto an AK70 for my cousin via it's USB 2 and the files took hours to copy across, remembering USB 2.0 (480 megabits per second) vs USB 3.1 (5 gigabits per second) transfer speed difference. So if you are coping lots of Hi-Res files to your device (which we do), I know which one is better.

It is also better for Hidizs sales IMO; a USB 3.1 chip isn't expensive $3-$6 USD, but because of the USB 2 decision, I have now drop my pledge from the 128GB version to the 32GB version, and will use the saved money to buy a larger MicroSD Card and use a USB 3.1 card reader to do the transfer directly to the SD Card on the PC at a much faster rate.

Cheers.

Yes, the first time it can take a long while. But it not something normally done on a regular basis with a DAP. What DAP does USB 3.1 Gen 1 or 2 speeds?

Eventually, the faster tech will trickle down to these devices.

I have loaded 5 gig DSD albums and the speed was fine. In line with most DAP's including TOTL in $ ones.

Exactly. Heck, most other DAPs are still using Micro-USB ports for some reason.

There is other stuff where USB 3.1 Gen 2 speed is much more important to me than my DAP. Though it would be nice.

As I said its “Not a deal breaker, just know how nice USB 3.1 is” I doubt any DAP is using it that I know of (may even require Android 6-7 for the driver to work)

I was just giving a fair opinion on the technology and more the choice of Hidizs using a USB-C port but not implementing the actual protocol around it, then making out having USB-C is a “feature” of the AP200, but is no real difference to MicroUSB on other DAPs parity wise.

Anyway, unfortunately it’s only using USB 2.0. Not a deal breaker, just know how nice USB 3.1 is.

Exactly my point, all DAPs pretty much have this copy speed, including the most expensive ones. I just use my lappy's card reader, and I'd also like to mention that no HDD will go over 80MB/s copy speed, with a professional card reader + a Samsung mSD card being somewhere along the lines of 20 - 30 MB writing speed in general, so the ~15MB/s I got with AP200 is quite good actually.

The Lotoo PAW Gold/Titanium is reported to provide very high speeds for data transferring to the memory card inserted, as far as I know. With that, the LPG supports USB 3.0 connection and obviously uses its advantages over the USB 2.0)) Again, USB 3.1/3.0 and USB Type C implementation brings you no data transfer rate increase unless the manufacturer uses a high-speed built-in card reader))

Lotoo Paw Gold had a constant transfer speed of 78 mb/s with a Sandisk card of 95 mb/s advertised. That was USB 3.0
AP200 will be just fine for music transfer, plus is more versatile with extra features.

I think no DAP comes even close to the LPG in this regard...

Guys, can anyone compare the AP200 to the AP100 and/or Cayin N3/ N5.

I have the Questyle QP1R and the AP100 and I find that the AP100 is not outclassed by the QP1R and in some ways I prefer it.
