Oh I do know the 518 but the LE one.. the bass was a bit booming. I am not gonna lie, I am pc savvy, but not audio savvy... all I know is my needs and some headphones that might fit it.. but I don't know which ones that are on ear have a good sound stage and good isolation and such

Oh i also wanted to say that I do not prefer big circumaural headphones either.. but if you guys think that I will get the most bang for my buck, I can look into them :) I just really don't know which headphones fit me best

just get the K518 LE, the bass is not boomy, its fast and fairly tight.

lol I did listen to the k518 LE in store close to me and they sounded really good! a bit tight on my head.. but not too much of a problem, but the bass was pretty... BIG I thought. Maybe it was the song... I may have to go test them out again... sorry for my indecisiveness.. but well I dont have much money so spending it wisely is a must

the 181 are a better construction, and got better reviews for their sound, and detachable cable, etc. but ARE THEY PORTABLE? any idea how big they're comp'd to 518?
and BTW, there was a thread where someone tested the k81dj and k518LE - although cosmetically same, they sound different, according that test...

Read this thread: AKG k81, k181, and Sennheiser HD25-1 ii are all discussed in it, with rankings @ the end:

I am not sure either - sometimes i think heck with it and just get the k81 for $49, and be done - but I hate the white accents (all black only in europe), and feel like i want a HP with a detachable cable, which the k81 doesn't have :frowning2:
K181 doesn't look very portable to me and has even more shiny parts - ugh! I like think matte and dark.

The Senn HD25-1 will prob. make us both happy, but it's pricey! it has everything I need

Ultrasone 450 looks pretty portable (also in that thread)...but no detachable cable. :frowning2:

The Aiaiai TMA-1 looks brilliant and seems like just the thing we want - detachable cable, GREAT looks, etc etc...but is same price as the HD25-1... :frowning2:

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
