New Beyer DT1350

I cut it 3mm across, but due to the way I am bending the pad, it shrinks to ~2mm when I let it return to its original shape.

What's this about "Pre or post facelift" earpads?

Interesting that, that little bit of porting can make a difference.

Original DT1350 apparently had a headband with cushion glued to metal headband frame and thinner/smaller pads with arguably more headband pressure but that may be due to the pad change. The facelift included straight and coiled cable versions with larger ear pads and the headband construction that has the cushion held on with rubber wrapping and again arguably less headband pressure.

With headband closed and extensions on smallest setting, 6 9/16" tall, 6 1/4" wide, with headband closed and extensions fully extended, 7 1/2", same width.

Thank you so much. I'm going to check if it will fit the pelican 1170 case now!

For anyone who is randomly cross shopping these with DT880Pro 250ohm, the soundstage is completely different. I own both pairs and use them on my Schiit Asgard 2. I would say the DT880s are flatter and the bass is more neutral. The 1350s have some extra sauce in the bass department and have some touch of brightness to them. Typically, I just use the 1350s with my laptop/travel because of the low drive required but I really enjoy them amped, ALOT.

I just ordered two pairs of EDT 1350 N pads from Beyer. These are the only pads I found that makes listening to DT1350 for hours comfortable.
The only thing is, you cannot clean them and they get deformed after a period of time so you need to replace them.

Don't know about some of you guys, but my DT1350 is built like a tank. I got the one with the coiled cable. Bought mine in the summer of 2013 from Meier Audio for the office and/or travel, and they have survived quite a few adventures, including a recent one to the jungle! Admittedly, the earpads take some time to get used to everytime, but after a few seconds I don't notice any discomfort anymore (probably due to the fantastic sound quality

). These are sure to last a lifetime as long as you handle them with some care.

I got these today (although not from Newegg), and I just wanted to point out that the cups are metal! It is like the T51i/p. I no longer have those on hand to compare, but I think it sounds a little more like those as well, so the metal cups make a difference. It must be like how the Sennheiser Amperior or Aluminum editions are described as sounding different from regular HD25s. It has a similar "champaigne" gold tint to it (subtle) and doesn't look that much like the product photos. It also has the larger earpads of more recent DT1350s installed.

I'd say the sound on the gold editions are a little lighter, more treble emphasis, less bassy probably. Just a quick listen so far to decide that, though.

Paul@beyerdynamic-use.com told me they were only sold through Focus Camera.

The only thing is that product photo they show (https://www.gadgetar.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/BeyerDynamic-DT1350-Limited-Gold-Edition.jpg) looks like the original DT1350s (smaller earpads, different cups). So I'm left wondering what all these editions are about :) The gold-ish tint is exactly how I remember my T51is -- it's not a strong gold nor a silver (like it shows in photos of T51i). Confusing! But fun...
They probably just aren't that strict in manufacturing and there's a lot of differences in how these sound..

Sorry for digging up such an old post, but I'm sure the champagne cups are just the outer decorations and the cups themselves are unchanged.
Yes, there are many reports that the DT1350 had wide margins in quality control (i.e. some sound different than many/most others), so I think thats more like the reason these sound different.

My DT 1350's were in a headphone box, away from dust, moist or oxidation for a few years. Today I noticed that with time the headphones (outer part where it says beyerdynamic) got sticky and somehow looks degraded. Is this normal wear/tear with time? Is there anything I can do?

I’ve had this happen to a number of headphones with soft touch plastic finishes. They degrade with time, unfortunately. All you can really do is remove the offending coating with isopropyl alcohol. This worked on my Etymotic HF5s. A set of Fischer Audio FA003 was so gummed up, however, that I ended up disposing of them...
