"Ships very soon"

The optional 2nd chassis PSU is another $1500 btw

The optional psu is not an upgrade, merely a convenience if you have another piece of gear it can be used with.

You'll get to see them in person soon

I'm waiting for in-depth reviews for both the BHA-1 and Mjolnir also.  The Bryston does cater for both balanced and single-ended connections which for me is a slight advantage.

Might be true as far as functionality, but in every balanced amp I've had, the single ended simply won't match the capabilities of a balanced connection.

Hey all,

Quick update on Mjolnir. Final production board is complete and tested, all long-lead-time parts have long since been ordered and most are in-house, and we're looking to be able to ship by the latter half of June (that is, on time.) Of course, that's barring any major train wrecks with the metal.

That means we'll be opening up pre-ordering as soon as a full kit goes off to the assembly house--probably about 2 weeks. After that, there won't be a long wait for shipping.

Gungnir's having lots of final software tweaks done at the moment, but it's running well and is also looking good to be on time (August, or maybe slightly before--one critical long-lead-time part is still inbound, hence the weasel-wording.)

All the best,
Jason

Excited!

Thanks for keeping us well informed Jason. Somehow it feels safe, and makes you so much more trustworthy than all the nominally anonymous companies.

Care to shed some light on how the preorders will be handled? Will my position on the interest list, just that I'm on it, mean anything or should I just check your website for updates every other minute for a few days?

Best wishes,

Yep, everyone on the interest list will be informed before the ordering goes live, and given preference based on their position in the list.

The amp looks fantastic!

And now for that hard question - do you guys feel it'll be a significant upgrade over the Lyr? I'm pretty much guessing "yes". I'm asking purely out of an LCD-2-owner, truth be told.

Same as we spec'd to start: 8W RMS/32 ohms, 5W RMS/50 ohms.

Ha, the ultimate question. We don't really do the hard sell here--and the differences will depend on what tubes you're using in the Lyr. Lyr scales nicely with better tubes.

That said, Mjolnir definitely has the edge in noise, so you can use it with very sensitive headphones headphones (we're using it with reterminated Grados and Denons) and it does have more power for, say, HE-6s.

I personally prefer Mjolnir to Lyr on the LCD-2s, where I think it is better resolving and also has more controlled bass. But that might be just my neuroses talking--I do like the fact that I don't have to decide which tubes to use with Mjolnir, and it's kinda set-and-forget. But then again, that may be boring...

Is there any chance that the Statement amp will have even higher power output? My HE6 are hungry little fellas!
