Fred mentioned Gustard has a clock cable (C2) for $179 (list). Works at 50 and 75 ohm (adaptive)?? It looks like 50 ohm wire and has 50 ohm BNC connectors. So the claim is suspect to me. But if a cable is short the impedance mismatch is minimized. I would rather have the $10 RG402 50 ohm cables from Ebay. Keep them short as possible has always been good advice.

So do 75 ohm cables work for 50 ohm clock circuits? Curiosity piqued I tried my Oyaides 0.75m 75 ohm SPDIF cable for the 50 ohm 10M input on the MK2 DAC. It works OK but seems to warm up the sound a bit however slight. Nothing horrifying or gross.

Still, when you're paying huge money for the best clock you can afford, it doesn't make sense to use the wrong cables.

with my humble experience with my friend’s C18 clock, i could have a good result with a long cable (3m) using a higher spec. LMR400 cable vs previously a simple RG400 cable which had some dropouts from time to time….hopefully this will help

FW update help request -
It's been a while since I've done a FW update and I have a .jic file that I believe needs to be extracted.
I tried 7-ZIP but it doesn't work.
I did a search and got that .jic is connected to the Altera Quartus II JTAG Indirect Configuration....
Will the Altera program work with the .jic file directly?

Thank you.

Yes. You need to setup altera first. And a usb blaster to program your dac.

Was up to this point but not recognizing the built in USB Blaster -

For whatever reason, the "START" tab was greyed out but now its highlighted so I tried the download but got Error Message - "Operation Failed"

The beast arrived. Initial impressions are that it doesn't sound as warm as I had expected, just smooth and clear. I'm going to leave it on for about 10 days before giving impressions though, knowing, as I do, how these things go.

I have to be careful not to accidentally switch it into a fixed volume control mode while I have speakers running.

Good argument for passive monitors
