Hi im starting university at the end of this month and im looking for a pair of headphones that can do it all for me, i would like to use them at home and out and about, however i kinda came to conclusion that there inst really a headphone that can do that (based on my research) so id even consider getting a pair of ear buds for portability alongside a headphone and amp combination.

My past ear gear has been;
Panasonic Rtf-600s- these are broken, i decided to pop the driver with a pen cause they seemed off (not enough bass) i understand music better now and realize how dumb i was :p

M-Audio Q40- I got these 2nd hand and they just fell apart and the audio jack gave out, they werenice as much as i remember but i was still a noob and they broke quick so i dont really remember the signature and all, it was just fun, took them to college and got some dirtylooks :D

Brainwavz M4 - Oh these were the buds i got into listening and EQuing (trying) they had nice bass, recessed mids - male vocals where a bit lacking and the highs where to sharp? (dont know the word but they peircedmy ears) separation was pretty good but these broke on me so much, good customer service though got fast replacements managed to get them replaced with the S1's oh and i managed to tone down the highs withthe foam buds but id have liked to have more treble? with less piercing? and the foam buds really boosted the bass to the extent that i had to increase the volume to enjoy the mids and vocals overall i liked these and i am willing to buy them again if i have to.

Brainwavz S1- Simlar to the m4 but more piercing and tighter bass but a worse sound stage and separation awesome for the gym, these broke 2.

Now i went through headphone tests on this website which tested the headphones, i did notice difference through the one bud on my brainwavz m4

ATH-M50x - liked them but again the highs got really harsh and pierced my ears.
Beyer-dynamic DT 770 80ohms - sounded good really nice no complaints to be honest (would get the 250ohm one though with an amp cause i heard it tightens and cleans the bass compared to the 80hms)
akg k701 - sounded real nice, bass was kinda less though and from what i understand they are open back, and open backs are a no no for me :D
v-moda crossfade m100 - nice bass @.@ but the mids wererecessed? and most of the highs didnt feel crisp, lacked treble?
Beyerdynamic dt 990 600 ohms - i couldt fault them they sounded amazing the bass was punchy and tight and the guitar wiffs, omg it was good but i dont think i could afford to drive them aswell as buy them

Now i listen mainly to EDM and Rock/Metal and portability would be nice i was thinking of a beyerdynamic dt 770 250ohm + fiio e10 combination + another pair of earbuds like the brainwavz
on the otherhand i was thinking of getting the m50x cause of portability and price i even considered the bandw p5's or the KE5 m500.

At this point of time i am really confused on which way to take, i dont wanna cheap out on a good pair of headphones, if they will last and they will sound amazing i think i wouldn't mind spending 300 odd pounds on them!

Thanks for reading people!

P.S : Im still very much a noob, just a little less of a noob, still  a noob though :D oh and this is the place i was testing the headphones SQ from https://soundcloud.com/sonic-sense-pro-audio

well they dont have the nad hp50 but they have the sample of a momentum overhead and yeh they sound pretty nice but i still prefer the dt 770's sample on the website, as for the NAD HP50 how does that compare to the dt 770, how is the build quality on the momentums, are they worth the price, do they need to amped or do they benefit from being amped?

To be more specific i prefer the highs on the dt770 they sound more crisp, like even if i play them on full volume of my earphones via my macbook they dont pierce me

Wait, I reread your original post and I want to ask, are you trying these headphones in person?

I don't want to be mean but listening to an EQed music track to simulate the sound signature if completely different than actually listening to them.

You don't get the same sense of soundstage, resolution, muddiness/clarity.

Ah i have managed to find a headphone shop in my area, they dont have most the headphones but they do have bower and wilkins and the kef m500 aswell as the momentums, i think ill head there in exactly 11 days or so and make a purchase, although im leaning towards KEF because they are UK based and good customer service reviews if anything was to happen, it all depends on there sound, thanks for the help GL1TCH3D!

Oh undoubtedly, but this is the closest i can get to listening to them, as i dont know a headphone specialist nearby that stocks these to listen to them.

I would take all those samples with a grain of salt. KEep in mind chances are whatever you're using to listen to them will have it's own deficiencies that will be passed onto the sample that couldn't possibly hope to capture certain subtleties.
