Hard to describe, but the bass of the T50RP (and various mods of it using the stock enclosure) has always not been very clear or articulate. I hesitate to use mushy because it isn't. It's more like rubbery.

The AD is indeed more up front in the upper mids compared to the Paradox. At least with the prototype I've heard.

I agree with you, i've always felt this but haven't really known how to express it, i'm not sure about Rubbery but i definately understand what you mean.

Bah, terminology. >_<

I can't really imagine what "rubbery" sounds like. Is that soft and not well-defined? If the Paradox is mellow, does that mean the Alpha Dog has a more up-front upper-midrange? Upper-mids are kind of the sweet spot for a headphone for me since I listen to music genres with strings and female vocals.

A 50-ohm output impedance amp with a 56-ohm impedance headphone makes very little sense to me...

It does sound crazy looking at the specs. When I heard the MD on the O2 I thought that combo sounded dark and unimpressive.

Any of you beta testers listen to the Alpha on a vintage receiver?

The impressions coming from the beta group are extremely encouraging. It’s very cool to see someone who started with more modest modification take something to the next level and start printing custom cups to improve the sound. Very cool!

I was a big fan of the Mad Dogs and used them extensively for some time. I don’t think I’ll be getting one of the initial batches of Alpha Dogs as I’m happy with my HE500 for now but I think I’ll be getting one of these within a year, easily. Have to hear these for myself.

Heard this at CAS4 this morning... and I largely concur with Judes impressions from the video. Something amazing, various listeners compared parts of its presentation favorably vs that of the Abyss a few tables over.

Also the Paradox is a bit more mellow in the upper mids than the AD. The AD more neutral as in UERM, Yamaha NS10, studio monitor neutral.

What do you mean ? Because considering your own graphs about the paradox it would be hard to make a more neutral headphone

Yes, I have the Sansui 9090 and Pioneer sx-650. The AD was really nice with the Pioneer but just exquisite on the Sansui.

Just recently acquired the sx-1280 and how I wish that I still had the AD to test it with.

Just when I thought I was happy with my current gear...

Kinda off topic but do you guys know if preorders are charged right away?

I believe only payment options are Pay Pal or with "Bill Me Later" by Pay Pal. If PP, yes you will be charged at the time of order. BML will well... bill you later. It's like a online credit card.
