Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

Honestly, if you have the Kanas Pro, there’s no need for the Comets (unless you like the form factor which is small and equally elegant and can be worn down hanging, all of which I like for on the go). It’s two different approaches and two different sound profiles, but equally good in their results IMO.

Just left the local ear specialist where I ordered a custom tip for the KPE. Turns out my ear canal is very “flat” - no chance to get a round tip seated in there.
Really looking forward to my tips and to listening to the KPEs full potential!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

My small ear canal is also quite flat and I got around of that issue with wide-bore very soft silicone S-size tips that I place on nozzle with spacers if needed, so, that tip edge goes at least 3mm over the nozzle edge - helping rounded tip to "squeeze" into ear-canal shape.

The motherload. My 11.11 items came.
Don't expect impressions until the weekend when I start doing tests on them. I need to keep them sterile for now.
A8 is beautiful.

I am thinking of ordering Symbio but it seems that I'll try this kind of hack instead. Probably I'll try using earbud foams too.

earbud foams isnt memory foam, just normal foam like the one inside sony hybrid, from my experience comply memory foam S series for sport works best. Symbio W is good, but spiral dots effect is better.

i used comply tips and noticed the same thing... but i did notice the sub bass is less with comply. so i went back to silicon tips.

still searching for the best tip

found some small silicon tips that insert into the ear more .it solves the long nozzle and it sounds really good .i think this is the one!

what a journey with kpe burn in. in the beginning i heard it straight out of the box i was like wow i really like it. how can it get better... fast forward to around 20-30hrs burn in and the mids just got smoother...i thought to myself.. yep it got better and the soundstage got a bit wider. when i hit the 40-60 hrs i though oh, mids got recessed but soundstage got a lot wider and thought okay... thats the trade off.. but i miss my mids sometimes. now im at about 90-100 hrs and mids came back!! its a complete sound again with bass always deep and clean (more sub bass and less mid bass) mids smooth as butter and highs are crisp and airy with wide soundstage. very happy

Have you tried out the tips from the Samsung akg earphones? Perfect match for the KPE and my ears at the moment (fit might vary from ear to ear). I'm currently using the M-size one (11mm) and that literally ended my need to tip roll any further.

I’ve been using them with several tips: symbio N, Final Audio E, Azla and RHA tips.

My early impressions and opinions on the Moondrop Kanas Pro, Blessing, and A8 with comparison to the BGVP DM6.

Moondrop Kanas Pro:
It is slightly heavier than A8 and Blessing but much lighter than Andromeda S. The fit is really good. I like that it’s made of metal and it cool your ears. The nozzle is big with grill. It is the smallest earphones of the three.
The bass is punchy. The vocal is more elevated than BGVP DM6 but slightly less than the Blessing. Details are good. The mid bass doesn’t drown the vocal or mid in certain songs like the DM6. Instruments separation is slightly better than the DM6.

Moondrop Blessing:
It’s very light. The fit is good. The nozzle is slightly bigger than Kanas Pro with three crossover opening holes. It is slightly smaller than the A8.
The bass is tight and not boomy. The vocal is slightly more elevated than the Kanas Pro and clearer. It is slightly more detail than the Kanas Pro has better instruments separation.
It come in a wooden box with leather looking small pouch like the A8 ane black 2-pins cable.

Moondrop A8:
It’s about the same weight and size as the BGVP DM6. It will stick out of your ears. The fit is almost the same as the DM6. It has the biggest nozzle of the three with 3 crossover opening holes.
The bass is in between the Kanas Pro and Blessing but leaning toward tighter. Vocal is definitely the showcase of this earphones. The details and instruments separation are ever so slightly better than the Blessing. It sound refine, balance, and really good.
The 2-pins opening is flush and not recessed like on the Kanas Pro and Blessing. All three Moondrop earphones do not have indication of left or right so there is a slight effort in connecting the cable. It come with the same copper and silver cable as the Kanas Pro.

The Moondrop seem to emphasize vocal and detail. They are all slightly different. It’s hard to put a value to them. BGVP DM6 is not bad when comparing to the Moondrops, it has different sound signature. The DM6 emphasize boomy bass more.

Graphs were done in REW using MiniDSP EARS and iFi micro iDSD Black Label.
I will be burning these for further comparison.
