Sound signature changes can make your mind focus on certain things differently.

I have also had that happen when comparing speakers too. Most often than not if you go back and listen you will hear the same detail in the other speaker too. But the presentation of other things might have drawn your attention away from that detail.

The Turbines are good but to me they aren't the most detailed
IEMs. The bass is the only place where I see a difference detail wise comparing my other IEMs.

Another happy customer here! I am actually shocked at how much they have changed over the course of a week. They are not fart cannons anymore! Compared to my K81DJ they offer better low end detail, although the bass is more pronounced. I am using the small olives that came with them and look forward to finding tips that will accentuate the highs. The high end seems plenty detailed, just not quite as forward as I would like. Any suggestions?

While $100-150 is not cheap I think someone on a "budget" should look at these. I too would have never looked at these as I think Monster tends to sell overpriced hype. Thanks Head-Fi!

I took advantage of the buy.com 96.00 - 30.00(cc app)= 66.00 deal. Much better than my se210's. Worried about lack of stain relief at plug, small spiral stress blemish in cord outer sheath at plug. Bass runs on Diana Krall's love scenes sounds great, as well as her voice. Opeth and Ozrics sound great as well. XM chill on Myfi is a good time too. Use jazz eq on clip to open sounstage a bit. I find the lg single flanges fit well, they kinda snap into place. Isolation better than some have reported, though not as good as the se210's. Plenty good enough on a plane. Bass was a bit boomy at first, but eventually got used to it and now I crave it. Treble could stand to be a bit more forward but now I'm nitpicking. We are so spoiled compared to the walkman tape player days.

i am not worried about frequency response anymore - most iems don't even go past 16 000 hz unless brand new ones that claim that but barely pass 15 or even 14 unless at -20 db or so.

if it sounds good, it sounds good. of course, sound is subjective completely and so are fans. so i am a fan of the turbine with some reservations but after hearing most of the competition at the price except the new v1 atrio, i am unconvinced that the stodgy efforts of us 'audiophiles' who hate big marketing companies is worth it.

quite sure that sennheiser dwarfs monster anyway, but there is no bad street cred against senn even though you have to buy their best for 1500$.

it all comes down to perspective. if sennheiser or akg were in the light for regular consumer products as much monster are, i think honestly that this pre-conceived negative attitude would not exist.

actually, i have never encountered monster in real life except people who do car audio and from my avatar, you may be able to suss out that i have very little interest or respect for cars as i am almost killed by them everyday.

66$, i would buy two! that would make them by far the best deal for sound under 100$. at 96$, as much as i love the nuforce for 49$, the monster is leagues away other than sound stage and cable - i prefer the one on the nuforce which is not as energetic.

In my opinion, I have both the Nuforce 7 and Monster Turbine, they both have pretty much the same sound signature, but bass a tad deeper and better quality with the turbines. Mids are decent represented in both. The highs of the Turbines sounds to have slightly better details and less grainy, but depending on music you are listening to. Soundstage seems to be almost the same in width, but again a little better in depth or in the vertical area with the Turbines. The general dynamic punch sound IMO better with the Turbines. The quality of the housing, fit and feel in my ears are better with the Turbines (using the smallest ear tip). I have had the Turbines for two months, used, stressed them a lot and no problem with the cable.
So I agree if you can find the Turbines for a price around $100 or so, they are def. worth it..

i give the nudge to nuforce stage but that could just be a fit issue with me. both are great and i will admit that the signature is similar but overall the monster has less of an iem feel to it for quality of the sound, not sound quality.

Fit and type of eartip do of course change a lot on the soundstage perspective, I agree, it is matter of taste how you like your soundstage to be presented and eartips and fit can change that quite enourmously. But you must(maybe!) agree that the Turbines do have a very pleaseant and fun way to present, let´s say certain or many genres of rock, electronica, bass oriented music in, and still does very well with jazz presentations, vocals focused music like Diana Krall and so on. Maybe not quality (detail) like other IEM´s like a shure 530 ,Ety 4 (used to have this) or PFE (I still have this one), but still a very high quality and énjoyble way to present sound the way that makes us

hey, do you prefer the turbines or PFEs? can u comment on their difference? thanks

Both are great. I listen to them through a clip and fuze. PFE needs or sounds better being amped. PFE has more detail, sounds clearer, maybe some wider soundstage.
Turbines IMOP do not need to be amped, but can stil benefit form it. It has a more deeper punchy sound, almost subwoofer like sound, but still have decent and clear highs. The mids doesnt"t get covered by the bass as many bass like IEM tends to do.
But it depends very much on what type of music you listen or what type of sound balance you like. For me I will keep both, Turbines kicks ass on electronic/bass/mid oriented rock, but can still manage decent vocals/guitar soloes. PFE gives you detail, seperation in Jazz or rock music of your preferral. If you did not like the the PFE, but like the punch of the pk3, then you might like them. Turbines to me seems to be more versatile. Also they improve after some hours of burn in.
