Thinking of getting a shorter 1.2m cable like this one here, does this one work? Is not going to short with that extra ring?

If it is wired the same as the Hifiman cables (it should be as that is pretty standard) it will work. If you are worried, buy from a seller that has a decent return policy.

Yes. Leather free, vegan, and mircosuede descriptors are all used interchangeably by Audeze (and various retailers), it seems, for their non-lambskin pads. I would also say that "microsuede" is a very accurate description for the feel of the material. It feels just like the suede leather couch my friend has.

the size of the new round pads is almost the same as the stock pads of the m1060 so they should fit almost perfectly, let's hope they come up with angled ones soon

No, I do not feel like they are upfront, they are pretty decent with staging and spaciousness, and the vocals follow that cue, but I do feel like the Vocals are very clear and present which I do not feel like they are more recesses as something like the DT990s or something along those lines. But as far upfront, if that is what you like, I would suggest the HD650's which have vocals more front and center, but also have less space. (trade off of what your preference is)

I used to own the HD 650 for a brief period, but returned them, because ironically I found the vocals to be a bit distant sounding.

What options did you find for 2.5mm TS connectors?

TRS works fine, not sure why you want to use TS.
There are plenty of TS options on ebay, just make sure connector's back opening is big enough for cable you are using.
