LCD-X and XC Update

The LCD-X certainly does require EQ to sound correct. This is the EQ that I created for mine. Once an appropriate EQ is put on the headphone, the sound quality is just spectacular. The LCD-X has an amazing ability to correctly image and offer excellent detail retrieval. It reveals everything that is present within the recordings.

Pre-Amp = -5

20Hz = +1.5 Q 4.32
25Hz = +1.5 Q 4.32
30Hz = +1 Q 4.32
60Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
70Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
80Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
350Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
400Hz = +1 Q 4.32
500Hz = +1 Q 4.32
700Hz = -1 Q 4.32
1kHz = +0.5 Q 4.32
1.9kHz = +1 Q 4.32
3.5kHz = +2.5 Q 4.32
4kHz = +1.5 Q 4.32
4.5kHz = +0.5 Q 4.32
8.2kHz = +1 Q 4.32
10.5kHz = -0.5 Q 4.32
11kHz = -0.5 Q 4.32
12kHz = -2.5 Q 4.32
If I ever get a chance to get another set I will definitely try these settings. Thank you

Hello, Guys I just got my LCD-XC 2021, I can verify, that when I just put them on, they sounded thin, but I crank up the tube amp and let them play for a few hours. like 6.
came back to check and they sounded way better.

So I turn on my pc, started testing, against my old Bubinga Wood XC, 2015 edition, Dekoni pads.

So, the few things I can tell is that the new 2021 has a bit more base, nothing major, but you can tell it's there.

to be honest, they are very close, if I EQ the woodies, I can get the bass closer to the new 2021.

now the 2021 XC, is a bit more comfortable, cause of the headband. but when it comes to detail, and mids, both sound really close to each other.
I may pass the woodies, to my son or may sell them. Not sure yet.

I used my Focal Arche to do the listening, on Volt Settings. I will try tomorrow my WA7 3rd Gen.

Nope 2021, definitely sounds better than my woodies. XC.

Is anyone using Roon with the current version of the LCD-X? If so, are you suing the Audeze DSP setting?

I updated my EQ again to the following. People should give this a try. I think you will be very impressed. The sound quality, bass tightness, detail retrieval, midrange clarity, and imaging are just excellent.

Pre-Amp = -5

20Hz = +1.5 Q 4.32
25Hz = +1.5 Q 4.32
30Hz = +1 Q 4.32
100Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
125Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
160Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
400Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
500Hz = +0.5 Q 4.32
700Hz = -1.5 Q 4.32
800Hz = -0.5 Q 4.32
1.9kHz = +1 Q 4.32
3kHz = +0.5 Q 4.32
3.5kHz = +2.5 Q 4.32
4kHz = +1.5 Q 4.32
4.45kHz = +0.5 Q 4.32
5.5kHz = -1 Q 4.32
8.2kHz = +1 Q 4.32
12kHz = -2.5 Q 4.32

The earpads?

Eh, yes, aside from the fact the X uses real leather (unless you opted for leather free). The current earpads mainly differ in whether its leather or leather-free. The internals should be the same airy, non-memory foam.

I should stress, the same earpads as we changed to at the tail end of last year. If you have a 2C from before the end of last year, the pads have changed.

That, I can't say as I haven't used those pads, and in general, Audeze doesn't comment on unofficial products. You'd have to ask Dekoni or someone with experience.

Personally speaking, if I was gonna get a Dekoni pad it'd probably be the sheepskin pad as it seems to affect the sound the least.

I would've loved to try the suede pads, but it looks to really mess with the frequencies up top.

Dekoni does measure their pads for certain models, and LCD-2 (for example with the LCD pads they offer) appears to be one of those models. I'm not sure which stock LCD-2 revision they are comparing to, but it's probably a pre-memory foam genuine leather pad version if I had guess.

I'd be nice if Audeze can confirm for what serials the memory foam pad revision started, now that they've confirmed when that ended. As far as I can tell as an owner of a mid-2018 LCD-2F, it was at least as far back as that year.
